Denise I dont know if they are still sold here but I have a 30Yr old one made in India, It was used on my Yacht, now gets used to melt lead for dive weights. Daryl
As a youngster camping with my parents we used Kero lights, stoves, heater, and at one stage in a semi permanent camp a Kero fridge.
I have been using Coleman Dual fuel stoves for the past 10 years, either a single or a two-burner stove when I go 4WDing in the bush. Great stoves though I have found that they seem to operate better on the more expensive "Shellite" fuel than unleaded petrol however a much more "cleaner" burn (fume wise) than what I recall of the old Kero stoves.
I saw one (Optimus) for sale in a Kalgoorlie camping shop last year. Looked like the "One Pint" size. (Well I assume it was for sale as it was on the shelf, box and all)
I was still using one in the early eighties camping in NZ, a Primus.
Hi Ron and Shirley ...they bring back wonderful memories for me too. I lived in the bush in north queensland in the 70's and cooked on an old fuel stove, the kero pressure burner or a fire place outside. We also had a kero fridge. .. and a petrol washing washing machine!! : )
