I got lucky on eBay in 2006.
The van has to suit the tow vehicle and your needs for where you intend to go.

We have a Jayco Hawke mate, one day we will get a real van. wink

But I do like the way the ends push out for beds though, leaves all the floor space you can see for living area and towing less length.

There was one I had my eye on called a Windsor Rapid. We want to check them out in an offroad model. The ends push out for the beds, either one end or both.

We're in Ocean Grove, 20 minutes from all the caravan yards in Geelong. If you've got some free time and looking for a drive, message us. You will have to accept us as we are . Packing the van, painting in the house and dogsitting. Otherwise might catch you on the road.

if you are going to live in the van for an extended period, suggest stay away from pop top and go full height van. Would also suggest you find a combined shower toilet van for extended travelling. Extra cost of shower toilet van will quickly be recouped in cost of staying out of parks. I think it is fair to say if you are only going to spend $30k you need to get it right first time.

hm i gotta say i love the pop tops we had a jayco dove i think it was , all we needed took it to the top end , i too am alover of the not so huge towing ,very practical and besides if you only want to be in it for the night and the camping trip they are great, lots of people say if you are going to be living in it then not so good, probably depends on the type of person you are too.

i think ide be fine with it ,but everybody is different, but yep they are a great van the old pop top its great how you can fold your beds in and sleep on one of them and put all your stuff on the other while you ve got it up and ready to camp in , we had a tent on one of our trips with a two year old, i tell ya it was no fun after driving all day long and then setting up a tent ,so i put the foot down and said nup no more unless we get a pop top, so we did then we used to watch our friends setting up there camp instead searching in the dark with torches, etc , we pulled up in van popped beds out and that was that.

mind you that was a while ago now daughter is twenty now ?. how time flys

Must admit I love my pop top. We have a Crusader, and touch wood seems all the problems are now sorted. The good thing is Mick and I are both on the vertically challenged side and we can actually walk around no problems with the top down.

We have only 1 queen bed in ours as there is only the 2 of us. Had it now coming up to 2 years and bought it brand new. Used it a lot especially the last 4 or 5 months.

Like you Glassies, I enjoy sitting with my feet up and a nice glass of wine watching everyone set up tents or campers. We have done the progression from tents (all sizes) to campervan (which we still have) to our pop top.
