After 16 months in Adelaide we are on the road again, left the van park thursday morning and headed south through clarendon, meadows, then strathalbyn very windy and the road has lots of bends then over the ferry at wellington & we stayed at salt creek van park that night it was ok for a stop over very sandy and the amenities block was a fair walk for me with my leg problems. Headed on to kingston the next day i drove to there and then on to meningie had lunch here it is a lovely spot the main street is the highway and they have a big park on the edge of the lake with picnic tables and lots of shade. We got to millicent mid afternoon and the van park here is very nice there is a man made lake you can swim in barby etc nice shade trees which we needed yesterday as it was very hot and windy, went to penola but the wind just got worse the futher we went so we had a bit of a look around but decided to come back to the park we will stay at least 2 weeks so we can always go back again i would like to check out where sister mary mackillop did her stuff. Will drop a line now and again and let you know what we are up to if anyone is interested.
I'm heading out from Newcastle on Thursday firstly for Inverell (Nth NSW) where I have a commitment then via the Newell Hwy to Western Vic to "do" the Grampians, Gt Ocean Rd etc, possibly may get as far as Mt Gambier, no fixed plans, all new territory for me. Open to any suggestions.

keep us informed colsa, of course we are interested, if I can help with free camps in the south Australian section let me know, be careful and enjoy the drive
Just take your time and enjoy Jim. You'll be travelling through some fabulous country. Don't rush the GOR. It's great, but steep and winding road at times. Do it in short bursts, and when you get past Pt. Fairy head west towards Portland and check out the Narrawong Caravan Park. It's on the river and the sea, it's shady, clean and friendly. If you're heading to SE Vic check out Tarra Bulga National Park National Park out of Moe, and other features of this country. I thought it was absolutely beautiful. Port Albert is a quaint little place south of Yarram with a great little fish cafe on the waterfront.
