Can't those concerned stop this "primary school playground" childish bickering grow up and behave like adults!
Great advice that won't be heeded mate.
I guess we all disagree at times, thats the way life is but stop and think before you hit the "submit post" button. Sometimes the written word can be viewed as a lot harsher than it is without that face to face contact.
Smile guys, none of us is dead, ain't that a bonus.

Crusin Granny. Am I a cynic? Yes I am. But only when it comes to so called newbies who sprout the same rubbish they did before leaving and then come back under a new name and start again. You can tell when some one is a genuine newby because they ask real questions and do not attack other members. Not so long ago i was a newby and have found this site to be the easiest to get help from. I see Dave is gone. Jesus I hope he comes back. By the way I did not direct suspicion or cynicism to all new comers but only to those who may have come back to cause more havoc. Cheers Jack
I understand where you're coming from Jack. But how do you know they are returners? What are the signs? Some of the GN's haven't been on here long enough to even be aware of this. Many newbies have been "watchbies" for a long time, enjoying the information and banter shared on GN from the background. Not all newbies come on to ASK questions. Indeed, is that the expectation of newbies? When a thread appears on a topic they wish to contribute to, they call in for a chat. Such is this case. Someone read some misleading info on a thread and stepped in to put it right. In this case putting it right could save lives. All he did was put it right, which meant he disputed the information of another contributor. That's healthy discussion. We're all reading and watching the same threads and posts. We all interpret the information as we read it. Let's be a bit kinder to newbies until they show reason to be questioned. Even credible "oldies" disagree with each other. Do they then become "trolls"? We all choose which threads we contribute to. Not everyone will agree with us. So? Why do we question the motives of the newbie? Who is qualified to be "Troll Spotter"?

That's the key to finding gas leaks. It doesn't mean heavily diluted dishwashing liquid - it means lightly diluted dishwashing liquid, for a soapy mix which is 'heavily' comprised of the soap!
The frequency of encountered gas leaks mentioned earlier in the thread happens because far too few people regularly replace the o-rings in their gas equipment connections and fittings. Those should be removed/replaced at least every couple of years. Also, far too few people use plumbing tape on the thread of the connectors, or use it and don't be attentive enough to ensuring that it doesn't overlap the ends of movable parts in the connections.
Oh! And the bickering here is kinda way ridiculous!
O'rings. I'm getting the impression these o'rings get solid and crack after a couple of years in the sun and elements they're exposed to on the A frame of the van. What about those within the boot? What else makes gas bottles vulnerable?

Hi Granny, Even in the Boot if they have a flexable hose its usualy made of rubber & LPG does cause rubber to deteriate In fact the flexable hose on my barby has a date stamped on it & had a tag on it sugesting replace in 2yrs. The hose on my Oxy set which uses LPG the hose is rubber outside for heat protection & has a plastic lining for carrying the LPG. So one wonders why all LPG hoses arent made thisway. Cheers Daryl
I've done the exchange with an old cylinder just recently which gives me one new one. The next one gets exhanged when it's empty. Now I'm worried about the outside fittings. The lead to my cooker is one of those flexible, metal mesh coated leads. The lead from the bottles to the van are solid copper tubing. So I guess it's the actual connection seals which break down. I'll check them all. Thanks Daryl.
