its a start hey

well yesterday hubby searched the trading post and found me a nice 1997 subaru forester ,same colour as our wrx which is like a deep morone colour they call it mica red, so we are now looking at buying a roof top tent the one with ladder but this one has the ladder more on the inside of the tent we looked at others and you get wet with the ladder on the outside while climbing into bed when it rains.

(so im very excited pick it up on tuesday )i owned a forester before was a 98 model but sold it for six grand it was an auto and i found the auto to be sluggish .

this one is a little ripper so we are planning to go over to straddie and moreton to start off with then plan our trip to birdsville, all of a sudden hubby has become very interested in getting away now and again mostly for weekends for a start but its a build up to getting him to take that long awaited holiday hey ?

hope you are all doing well and fine happy easter to all xxxblankstare

It sure is. smile

We have a Jayco wind up Hawke, but prior to that we did the two man tent thing. I love it no matter what.

In fact, we are re thinking wether we want a van or a tent, hence the interest in the roof top one. wink

I had a 2006 Auto. Forester Firefly, and it was definitely not sluggish. It had great pick-up, and speed when I needed it overtaking.

Cheers,
Sheba.

Jim I reckon they know about Qld's weather.
The sunshine state is a lie, a big, fat lie!
Today is day 13 of rain. I have leaks where there were no leaks before.
We're over it.
We did catch a glimpse of some blue between the clouds this morning. I discussed this phenomenon this morning with the neighbours, and we came to the conclusion it was sky. A little warm glow from the clouds felt almost like sunshine, but we weren't quite sure.
One lucky lady even managed to get the washing dry before the blue light went out, and the sky went dark again.

Well done on the decision based on your sales pitch, obviously. Good girl!
Make the most of it, and enjoy.

hey smokey if that pic is your camper yep i always said why get one of them its just a tent on wheels lol, may as well just pitch a dome tent and a lot quicker too, ive never been a fan of the tent on wheels like so ,but to each his own, im also astounded at the cost of them, i did alot of travelling with a tent just pitched it at night and pack it up in the morning , no heavy duty stuff as
the dome tents are so light these days.

however we did have a jayco pop top camper and one of the times we were camped out west on our way to the top end, and it was so cold one of the nights minus five that in the morning there was ice all over the camper and we could not for the life of us pack it up till it defrosted to fold in

that was a huge memory for me i remember my hands being so cold i kinda knew what it must feel like to have frost bite they hurt like hell and i had to keep going over the fire to thaw them out.

and as for the nz accent lol lol lol my sister lives over with the sheep lol

We tented in dome tents and love the same luxury as smokey now. There is no comparison between the comfort levels of the two and with full annexe i think we have more living space than some caravans.

The camper is a whole lot more rain and wind proof than the dome tents ever were.

yeah i agree with the room you would have ,we did 10,000 klms in 3 half weeks so it wouldnt have suited us as we drove all day till sundown and put up tent had a meal ,and in the morning as soon as sun was coming up we were up packin up tent and gone again, never did get went in the tent though , those dome tents these days are amazing for keeping you dry .

dont get me wrong i am all for what ever people like to travel in be it a motorbike or whatever i just have looked at some of them set ups and thought whooo a lot of money for a tent on wheels however we have just purchased a tent that goes on the roof and pulls out with a ladder , it came with an mosquito type annex that goes on the other side of car, we wont be using any of it bar the tent on the roof as we will be packing up each day and heading off, thats what happens when u have a business to return to so i relish the day we dont have to worry about when we get back.

cheers guys
