RE: Solar Panels

What is amp-hour capacity of the Supercheap unit. That would be very good value for a 33ah unit similar to the one JRH uses.

My Jumpstarter is a Projector and has a 33a/h deep cycle battery.
Pic 1 is of course the front and pic 2 is the back view.

The jumpack has a built in compressor and the leads are stored in the bag at the back.

Thanks David, also John, for the info.

38ah for $130 is good value for the battery alone. I guess it's most likely a gel (SLA) battery. I notice the Projecta website doesn't list the 1500/33 ah so maybe it's a discontinued line. They do list a 2000/44 ah with 12/24v series/parallel switching which is not cheap so I guess it's a "commercial" unit intended for roadside patrols etc.

I have an auxiliary battery fitted to the car, 50ah capacity, (limited by space available) that I use to power a Bushman too. I was most interested in John's power consumption figures but for obvious reasons didn't enter into that conversation earlier. (wuss!)

I top up the charge when I have "ground" power available with a Ctek 7 amp charger, saves using a separate 240v power supply. My interest in the jump starter is give me some extended range. As I mostly camp in Caravan Parks I don't need to go to the expense of solar at this stage. I also have a "blue Tongue" compressor wired into the car so I don't need that function.

Yes the tug is an NP, diesel, manual, 2003 owned since new. I've had an excellent run so far (95k) only problem a burnt out clutch bearing (mea culpa, "guilty as charged Your Honour!"). The photo was taken near Colac on my recent trip to Victoria, the camper is a Goldstream "Goldcrown", similar to a Jayco Penguin...no pull-out beds. I'll be back on the road again on Monday for a couple of weeks, going up to Gladstone (Qld).

cheers,

Jim
