Showground prices

Has anyone else heard of the rise in the cost of showgrounds we stayed at Kilcoy showgrounds last year at $8 a night have just heard that it is now $15.50 a night seems a pretty steep jump in price to me anyone else heard of it. Helena.

I think you will find price hikes in showgrounds generally across the board

That will be the insurance industry getting in for their chop at the traveler. Maybe the government found a need for a new set of regulations on top of those already inplace covering showground camping. What ever the reason it won't be going to the show society to upgrade facilities

I think you second guess is close to the mark Wombat, I read somewhere that the Govt has their sticky fingers in the pot somewhere

WE used to like the showgrounds they were cheap most of the time and we felt we were really helping the community such a pity . Helena.

Yes you are right.....Showgrounds are a lot cheaper than the Caravan Parks.

We stay mostly showgrounds..... if you have your own shower and toilet it really does not matter where you stay as we only need some water and power.

I think you get smarter as you travel more.
Although some showgrounds are not very good, we try to visit them before we plan on staying there... it is the only way.

Where can you stay for 100.00 to 120.00 per week most caravan parks charge 150.00 per week or more.

Happy travelling

WE stay in the freebees a lot of the time and enjoy the showgrounds at various places we will still use them as you say they are cheaper than caravan parks and never right on top of each other either but was just amazed at how much they had gone up by in a year. thanks for the comments. drive safe everyone out there. Helena.

Yeah dollar value is still small but when the price hike starts out at 70- 100+ % then that's just Ned Kelly country and establishes a bench mark for others to use as a precedent.

As a side issue what's the go over Easter when coffee shops or take ways can charge 15% surcharge on the Saturday and Sunday over Easter when businesses are open for normal trade and don't pay penalty rates. Only Friday and Monday are gazetted public holidays
