I often think I will spend 1/2 hour before bed checking out the caravan forums on this and other sites and before I know it several hours have passed. Do other people have this problem or do I need to be more diciplined - comments and opinions appreciated, thanks

Hi .. I have the same problem .. if indeed it is a problem.
My wife often pokes her head into the computer room/study & asks 'are you still on that thing? What do you do on it all that time?' or some such....
My standard reply is ..'its better than sitting in front of the TV drinking booze'. and then we get into a discussion into some of the things that I have been looking at .. like a google maps street view of our accomodation in an upcoming trip to NY. Or maybe look at a couple of CV forum posts. This prompts a few things that she would like to check out ...
It is an addictive site but good. Hubby wonders how I can spend so much time on computer but as far as I am concerned it is no different to vegetating in front of the tele.
Jenny, my hubby and I are same, we both have a laptop each so no discussions as o who is going to use it at which times. We too sometimes look at the clock and say gosh goly gee whiz look at the time I'll never get up for work in the morning! But alas that won't happen any more- as TODAY i retired after 47 years work! Hooray. we have just put a deposit on a Grandcruiser Ritz Caravan and hope to sell up and be on our way in about 3 - 4 months- earlier! if we can! We will be living in our van permanently from where ever we are parked from then on. We love this site as it is very informative & friendly and people have helped us along our way for some time now. Keep online and chatting its relaxing and informative & not at all bad for your health, so why not? All the best in your future plans. Cheers Dawn
Congrats on the retirement Dawn. You certainly won't regret it and if you are like the rest of us you will wonder how on earth you ever had time to go to work.
You got a point there JRH...................let's go for it.
On a serious note Ma I have seen too many of my old mates give up the ghost before doing half the things they wanted to, so I have decided that I am going to live my life as if there is no tomorrow.

It could be worse...you could be wasting your time doing stupid things like housework, washing, mowing the lawns, raking leaves and other idiotic wasteful persuits!
Just don't let it interfere with constructive and worthwhile persuits like.... going to the pub, fishing etc.
Me too, you are not on your own. I love to read about what those on the road are up to, you can learn so much from these sites. I don't call it wasting time, I prefer research.
That's fantastic Dawn - we now have just less than a year to go then "we're outta here" - Safe and happy travelling - hopefully we'll 'see you in the great outdoors' cheers Jenny and Barry

I'm in the same boat in regards to time on the forums, nag, nag, nag from the dear wife along with an evil eye or two, but then I provide her with information from a posting on a particular topic I maybe looking at and sometimes I get "Oh that's good, make a note of that for when we're on the road.) Bugger me, ya just can't figure 'em sometimes!!!
Cheers & beers

Computers are like that. So much to do or see on it. And when you're on a forum it's like you met a bunch of friends, and you chat with one, then another, then another. . . Ha!Ha!! That's what it's all about!!
Greedy things, computers. Will take however much time you give them and tempt you for more!
I usually sit at the puter, with a TV on the corner, and I can use my ears and just a wee corner of my mind for what's on TV. That is all you need there! The rest of me is with those on the forum or email or whatever. . . .
hahahahaha!!!! so there are other people like me out there in laptop land !!!!! I love mine, and get heaps of enjoyment out of using either the lappie or big one. I read the forums, chat on Skype to friends and relees, chat on Facebook to friends overseas, msn to grandkids. Text on my phone if i have missed anyone !!!! good stuff this technology !!! Val
