We pulled in to Cunnamulla yesterday and were told by the Information Centre the Qld Government wanted to put a stop to Free camping and didn't want to tell to give any info on free camp areas. Also were told they didn't really want people to park in the Showgrounds either. We took a few brochures and in one had some areas near Charleville where free camp spots are available. One being near the Old Bridge. Anyway we intend to free camp wherever possible and enjoy ourselves. Today we are at Charleville.
Hi Valnrob We travelled through outback Queensland over the last 6 weeks and found some of the best free camps we have come accross. If going through Longreach I would recommend the camp area just through the town it is in the Camps 5 Book. Also when you go to a information place ask them for a copy of the Main Roads Guide to Queensland Roads, it has all the truck stops and recreation areas marked, numbered and listed. Woodpecker
We have some people at Information centre tell little porkies to suit their own wheel barrow .Have recently been giving information that turnout not to be true , If you had a friend that owned a caravan park would you encourage a traveler to free camp

Corruption at every level of society. But that's all right; We can blame the government etc.etc. for it.
