Jim Your post has brought back some memories of when we were in Chillagoe 10 or so years ago. Probably of little use now however we stayed at a very good basic caravan park attached to the roadhouse (BP I think) on the left just as you drove into town, if it still exists.
Thoroughly enjoyed the town for 3 or 4 days doing all the self-guided tours through the caves and one guided tour (Royal Arch). We also walked around the "smelter" and the guy at the roadhouse gave us directions to the site where they cut the huge marble blocks, which was an incredible sight even though there was no activity. Back then meals at the roadhouse were very generous and very reasonably priced.
Overall Chillagoe is well worth a look and has some interesting history.
When i checked the Badger's site before for some reason it didn't come up, I must have been having a seniors moment at the time as your link worked ok, yes it was not very flattering. Forgot about the Gary Stratton site, it has a few but no reviews. Someone else may have some more up-to-date info.
Thanks for the info on the self-guided tours too, I'll allow time to do those.
Them there Solar panels lookk great...Guess you don't need a powered site
Not sure whether you're referring to my rig in my profile piccy or not but I don't have solar so powered site is preferred. I do have enough battery power for a few days, more if I empty the Bushman in the car into the van's 3way.
When the need arises for more extended unpowered camping I'll go solar.
It was started by a bloke who was p1ssed off by the ratings in the AAAT publications. Most of those who use it contribute the information in it. There are instructions as well as on line forms with prompts to assist you to submit your reports. Those who contribute are given details to log on so that they can download the site to their computer for use off line.
Feel free to use it and contribute. When you stay at a park with only one report or the reports are over 1 - 2 years old submit a fresh one. Of course if there is no entry for the park then make it a priority to submit a report.

Thanks PeterD, As I mentioned above that I did try Badgers and due to a "Seniors Moment" didn't find it, probably looking in the wrong place, anyway I used Ron and Shirley's link (thanks R & S) and found it ok, went back later and "drilled down" as normal in the site and found it ok too, hence the seniors moment diagnosis, (always on the short list with me!)
