hi been doing little research on country pubs and was wonering if any one would know of lovely country pubs ...off the main highways... that have good pub grub and budget accommodation as well ... in any state i would be happy to know about ..... thanks
Hi Lilly, I have been looking for the same as travelling up to Qld soon and haven't got my camper yet. Up the Newell, have been told of two in Parkes at around $30 a night, own room and shared bathroom. The Star Hotel and the Broadway Hotel in Clarinda Street. Haven't tried them yet but have been told the Star has nice food. I will be interested if others come on here with more choices.
Hi Lilly, we have a small booklet called Outback Queensland Pubs - call for a free copy on 1800 247 966 (Outback Queensland Tourism), it has a lot of info on quite a lot of outback/historical pubs in Queensland including if you can camp etc. Whatever you decide to do, have a safe trip.

lions den is a great hotel just out of cooktown up north ,there are so many but it depends where you are heading ,that book sounds great though im ringing up for one myself .
Another old pubis the Nindigully Pub, about 40 kms east of St George in QLD. Situated on the Moonie River, They have room accomodation for around $15/nght, from memory, which is often used by truckies. I am unaware of their condition, as I have only free camped beside the river. Their food is good also.
