I'm here to tell you all I'm now 75% healthier than I was 2 years ago, which is what stopped my travels when I arrived in Cairns. I'm recovering from surgery which removed a faulty parathyroid from my throat, which was tampering with my calcium levels, and would ultimately damage my bones. This follows the surgery I had before Christmas to remove the faulty adrenal gland which was tampering with my potassium levels, blood pressure and all sorts of bodily functions. Hey, this medical science stuff is just bonza! I'm impressed! My extremely high blood pressure has gone, I have my ankles back, replacing my former "cankles", and my potassium levels are normal. I've deducted 16 pills from my daily intake, reducing it to 3. I no longer take pills for drain and vein, but I do still take them for pain and brain. I have a whole new perspective on life, and am getting ready to hitch up and leave Cairns in early October, if all goes according to plan. I've been a bit busy with all this, so I thought I should update what's going on.
Never give up! If you have health issues, you just never know when they will come up with a treatment or a cure. Make the most of every day. Don't waste a minute.

Great to hear you are on the mend Cruising Granny. Look after yourself and enjoy your travels. Stay up that end as very cold down here, I wish I was up that way now rather than wrapped up in front of a heater here.
Wonderin where you have been Granny . I even put an "all points bulletin" out for you on th funny pages -titled- "where" . I have to agree with you about taking things One Day at a Time . Still a bit cold down here near Grafton , so have fun , drive Careful & we will see you up the track somewhere .
good news Cruising Granny, question when travelling aus , and you have to stay in one place while recovering from health issues, what happens with your van, etc or pets if in hospital for a while?
I don't travel with a pet, but if you do, there are boarding kennels in most places, or the locals will "adopt" it until you recover. My eldest daughter did the adoption duties in Ceduna years ago when the disabled motorist was attacked and his young great dane pup was abandoned on the side of the road next to him, while the able-bodied attacker fled in the hand controlled car. Long story. She walked, fed and cared for the pup until the relatives arranged for it to be taken home to Vic. Most towns have wildlife and pet respite carers somewhere, arranged through the council or the local vet. I live in my van full time, so I just keep paying the rent, leave it where it's parked and off I go. In December I went to Brisbane for surgery and I was away for a week. Then I went to SA to see family for a few days in January, returning "home" as usual. This time I was only in hospital for about 24hrs, although I was prepared for a 3-day stay. Then it was home again to recuperate, under the kind, watchful eye of some neighbours. My van is my home base, and where it's parked is where I live. I'm not on holidays, I'm on a lifestyle, and I've been living like this since 1998. It would be great to have a pet, but travelling like this is too hard on a dog I believe. Then parks don't like animals, and national parks don't like pets etc. etc. etc. It's too hard. I enjoy watching all the birds and animals around me, but I don't have to feed and care for them, although I do slip them a bit of apple or something from time to time.

Good to hear your on the mend. Yes, medical science stuff is sure "bonza' as you put it! Most of us would not be here today without it. Hope to catch up with you out there one day.
