They have a good Visitor's Info centre there, I'm sure they can help. Maybe behind the toilet block in the main street, but get off the highway if you can.
What about at the project site? If they have recruited helpers they may have provided camping space. What's the project all about? You've got my interest now.

Thanks Guys, I contacted the organisers last Friday, about cheap camping, but nothing was offered on the site. I to, thought that they would have some sort arrangement with the council for camping at the show grounds or school (that's where they are building) or even billets for long distance travellers. They were to call me back this week.....perhaps today will be the day :D.
Cruising Granny The project is at the Wondai School I have cut and pasted the brochure

If I don't hear from them I will phone the info centre and council directly next week. I'm not familiar with the area and was hoping some of our nomads may have stayed there at some time and could give a review of the camp sites. I also hoped that there may be a national park camping spot or similar close by. Any way I'll grab a Burnett tourist magazine from our local info centre and see if there is anything listed there.
A bit negiligent. If they want volly helpers, they need to be a bit more supportive. Maybe they're still learning. All the best with all of it, and I hope the project is a success.

Yes I tend to agree that they may be learning - Only received a half filled in invoice so far. Not budging until I get more info from them. If I do go, I'll post a bit about the experience in case another workshop comes up in the Buderkin.
But for now I'm sitting tight....very disappointed about the lack of follow up with where to stay, what to take, what we will be doing, who will be conducting the workshop e.g. Huff and Puff from Vic, and no forms to fill in about special diets etc. that other workshops provide. I have found that when this info is available to participants, they will travel 3 to 6 hours each way to enjoy the weekend experience.
I just remembered that there is free camping, parking etc opposite the Tingoora hotel which is only 5lks or so back towards Kingaroy. There are toilets there & it's over the old railway line. You can't miss it. Take your cold weather gear because it's cold thru there.
