Greetings all,it's been a while since I've posted here,but have been an interested observer all along.I'm now on the road,permanently,and after purchasing an "oldie but a goodie(Coromal 600)have travelled from Melbourne(point of purchase) back to my old home(Rockhampton qld)to get things organised for the adventure. All done...I lefty Rocky on 16 July on a bit of a mission to see my son Reece in Darwin and have realised that I need to slow down.So much to see and learn in "every town",it's not just a matter of going helter skelter.I've stopped in Longreach and Winton to date and there have been so many things that I don't have the time to do.After Darwin,I'm going to change my outlook totally and enjoy all,or as many places and people that I possibly can. For those that are also new to this wonderful life..take it easy,enjoy and you'll find a wonderful world out there.We should make an effort to look for the people and places that we might not normally do. The people on the road are fantastic;I've been invited into their "homes" shared their worries and concerns...we're all the same..we laugh,we cry..we all go to the toilet. The "Traveller" culture whether full time or part is a wondrous thing,we can learn so much from each other. Forgive the epic,but I'm excited and as I write this Collingwood is on top of the ladder...things change,I know but that's not necessarily bad. We adapt,we accept the challenge and progress. From 29 July I'll be in Darwin for 6/8 weeks..please feel free to contact,but take me as I am...someone coming to terms with a new way of life,and a absolute feeling of being "me" Cheers and thx for your ears. Yahoo! Someone else gets it! Folks, we have another winner! That's what it's all about. Welcome to the "club". I left Broome with the mission to reach the Daintree maybe within a year. It took me exactly 12 months, but I travelled via Albany, The Great Ocean Road, staying various lengths of time at many places. Meeting friends, making new ones. Yes, that's what it's all about. It's the journey, and the destination. Safe and happy travels, and maybe we'll cross paths along the way. It's all good, and so wonderfully exciting.

G/day David, welcome to the greatoutdoors, some days its a big country, other days its small, never know where you may meet some one. Two years age we ran into a bloke in the kimbleys that we went to school with & had never seen him from those days till the rare meeting , life is full of surprises. Sounds like you are working it out as you go, to long is never long enough, enjoy.

Hi David, welcome to the world of travel 'on the road'. We started our own 'round Aussie' trip 10 weeks ago starting from Brisbane and have reached Mt Isa with 5000km travelled so far. We have zigzagged across the state of Queensland and spent some great times fossicking for sapphires in Rubyvale, topaz in Mount Surprise and garnets just outside Cloncurry.
We now have a few days down time as the front shocks need replacing on our tow vehicle. But, hey, what does that matter - there are a few new things to see here and we just take each day as it comes. We have no time frame but hope to be in Darwin by September and may even look for some work for a month or two to help pay for the car repairs.
We have a Coromal Seka 505 towed by a Mitsubishi Pajero. It's the people we have met that have made the most impression on us. Most are happy to share experiences and give advice to someone new at this. We have picked up loads of ideas and put some into practice to make our traveling life more pleasant.
