While admitting I couldnt live there permanently, I love going out into the desert. Theres something so special about miles of red dirt in every direction, the stars are brilliant at night, and its SO quiet!

Why Kimba Milo? We are in at Hawker now & about to head to Streaky Bay so was going to stop for a night at one of the free camp stops mentioned in the 'bible' at Iron Knob but if you suggest Kimba & a good free camp spot there we are willing to have our minds changed.
Cheers
Jon

kimba caravan park down near the servo has the best hot shower i've ever had at a caravan park! oh and cause my mum was born there..
lived on a farm out there and i stayed there many times.
I loved riding my dirt bike all over the place, helping out shearing the sheep etc
herding the cattle

I also forgot to mention Gerroa, lived there till i finished Highschool (nsw)
and then at Kangaroo valley, beautiful part of the world where we had a farm

The mine tour at iron Knob is well worth it. Go to the tourist info place and ask about it. its no frills and full of local knowledge we really enjoyed it.

I like where the soil is red....and country roads.

Where there are less people and big skies.

For us its Inskip Point - the jumping off spit of land out from Rainbow beach where you get the barge to Fraser Island - just had a week there - early Mud Crabs - a few fish - a day over at Fraser with the brother and sister in law. Back today for a doctors appt and then back up again for another 5 days. Best spot near Brisbane for me.

Hylda & Jon,

There is a free camp at Kimba near the main railway crossing into town, it is a large carpark with toilets.  Always vans/motorhomes etc anytime we have been past in the early morning.   Have never stopped there though, we usually stop at the caravan park next to the servo (they own the park, book there), fuel not very cheap there though.

There is an IGA near the freecamp too and may be cheaper fuel in the backstreets although we haven't checked.  Don't forget the "Big Galah" at the tourist info come Deli shop just before the rail crossing coming from Iron Knob direction.  Put your van or car in front of it and take a pic, it looks like it is sitting on your roof !

Kona , on the big island of Hawaiifurious
Mate it has to be the most relaxingest place , real laid back .
The drive up to the volcano is fantastic , as is the drive down to "Place of Refuge",
Very peaceful . Went there last 2yrs , might miss out this year as I want to do a
Navy reunion in San Diego.
