wow , that's scary, I have a rule when travelling , stop ,revive, survive.. i stop at least every 2 or 2 1/2 hours. etc, and i dont care how long it takes to get there, as long as we get there!
I remember heading north on a Skippy exercise many years ago and a mini bus full of aboriginals did the same thing, unfortunately they didn't fare so lucky the truck coming the opposite way had a large bulldozer with am oversize blade hanging over the sides of the trailer.
Opened the minibus up like a sardine can, killed 1 young kid and hurt a few of the others....the driver had been on the road for days without a proper rest.
A very drastic awakening call to everyone, I am like milo, and have the rule of thumb, cruise speed about 80-90kph and stop no more than 2 hourly.
Better a rest stop than a dead stop like the Qld road safety signs say.

That's some scary stuff - thankfully we didn't see anything like that on this last trip of ours. We too look for a spot to pull over every hour or so, and only travel at max. 4 hrs a day, sometimes it might be only an hour up the road that we head.
