Mexican statistics - how to waste time on a trip

We drove home from our daughters today  - up the coast Grafton to Ballina - then on to north of Brisbane.   Grafton to Ballina, being mostly single lane, we estimated that 7 out of 10 vans were from Victoria.  If anyone is interested in another silly stastic, about one in 30 tugs tugging vans has a tinnie on the roof.   Sort of reminds me of playing "spotto" as a kid - does that age me? lol

Nah, my grandkids play "spotto" only they look for yellow cars, i remember our kids playing that game too. Helps pass the time while travelling, so you are safe !!

Travelling to & from work each day (unfortunately) i play SPOTTO with my self. See caravans etc on the road (M1, Eight Mile Plains to Wynnum Road - Brisbane) and try to guess

a) Are they Grey Nomads (i.e. from this forum)
b) do I know their avatar
b) where are they going?

It fills a normally boring trip to work

If you lived in Victoria you'd be wanting to get the hell out of there in winter too!  winkwink

Also if you live in NSW (as I do) and have access to a Victorian address (which unfortunately I don't) you'd register your van in Vic too due to the rip-off rego charges in NSW.  (ok resident pedants, I know that's not strictly legal)

Oh my goodness! Do I remember the 'spotto' cards or what? We used to travel from our home (at the time) in Lithgow NSW up to Mooloolaba - I'm talking around 1956 here - and I can remember my father picking up the 'spotto' cards from the BP service stations, and my sister and I would play, until I got more than her, and she would sit in her corner and 'pretend' to be asleep!

Also Pete, where abouts 'north of Brisbane' are you? May be able to meet up sometime as we are 'north of Brisbane' too.

We see how many vanners wave back to us.  So far on average only about 50%.

As far as waving back goes Ma, we've noticed how far we are from a biggish city before anybody returns our wave. Seems its a habit of country folk but rare in cities.
But I wave anyway.

The things we do.
I always wave, and I wave in town to WA & SA cars. I still feel a connection to both states.
I'm a number plate watcher. What state, and in the case of WA plates, you can guess the region by the letters on the plate. It's a challenge for the interstaters, and a touch of home for the locals.
Not all the WA plates are region-specific, but "A" eg is Albany, "BM" is Broome, "BN" is Busselton.
Oh, you get the idea.
