HOW MANY EX SERVICE MEN & WOMEN

Just curious,

How many of us out there are ex-servicemen and women, I myself am one.

Bluey served in Kashmir and Pakistan with the United Nations so I reckon that counts.  DVA acknowledges it as such.

I am proad to say I am one, engineer from way. back. All australians should do some form of national service.By this , I don,t mean we should go off to fight some foriegn war, but put something back . I appreciate we live in the best country in the world. Try being a grey normad in Iran. Bill

i spent about 4 years in intelligance corp.  After applying for armour, engineers and infantry i was put in Int. and stuck behind a desk at JIO Russell offices Canberra. Hence the brevity of my service. The time i spent at Kapooka, CUNUNGRA (JUNGLE TRAINING) and Woodside (Corp training ) was possibly the best of my life until recently.

What a raggedy old bunch we are....

Doesn't matter where ya served Ma, the point is ya served, no matter regs, reserves, nasho, etc etc etc....you did your bit.

Pride is what helps us stand tall and so it should, proud to be an Aussie and proud to be an ex serviceman.

87 - 01 RAEME & RAAOC here mostly with Disco's crowd playing with hellicopter bits n pieces.

Does being the grandaughter, daughter, ex-wife (of 25 yrs) and mother of a seviceman count?

Have met so many ex-service people on our travels, that I am starting to wonder if the military service lifestyle is what begins the restlessness thats in all of us grey nomads, and the need to "get out there"

Count me as a member of this 'elite' group of raggedy old codgers - I did my 20 yrs as a Grunt from 1968-88, Vietnam 1970-71 with 2RAR, and numerous other grunt postings spread around the country from Townsville to Port Agusta/Whyalla, as well as Singleton. Enjoyed every bloody minute of it!!

We have met lots of vets on the road to date, and looking forward to meeting up with lots more when we hit the road next year.

Gerty being the relative counts even more because more often than not you are the ones that take the slack and cop the aftermath of bad command decisions when we get home...

Milo you made the effort to join, you went and offered your services thats what counts.....

How's Ben doing mate, hope he's OK.

Oh by the way anyone Ex 161 Recce Sqn - Holsworthy out there, you may like to know that 6 Avn is there now, but they have earmarked Holsworthy for closure and eventual sale to the property developers.

If you are ex 161 drop me a line was there Jan 89 - end 91 in MCS/EME Ops. Maj Bryan Millen was the Sqn OC and Lt N.T. Reynolds was the OC Workshops at the time.
