Any one with a telstra mobile plan with the My Hour deal? I like many beleived that all calls made in this time frame had to be connected & finished within the designated hour in a max of 20min blocks. Not so, just found out that as long as a call is connected within that time frame you can extend beyond the designated time.
eg. all calls have 20min block max, so if you have say 7.00pm to 8pm hour , you can make a call at 7.58pm & finish at 8.18 pm.free. This is from telstra direct to me. An added bonus I was not awhere of. so we have an extra 18/19 mins free . start talking.

You need to put a timer on Pam! Yes I knew about that although don't have that plan myself. I have a great friend who often rings me 3 times in the hour, just need to keep an eye on the time. In the middle of a sentence she says, Hold on, ring you back. And sometimes that last call will be at 2 minutes to the end of her hour. So we talk on to the 18 minutes past that hour. My plan with telstra which I haven't had long is 49.95 a month and I get $400 worth of free calls and 200 mb of internet. I haven't used the internet yet and telstra are supposed to txt me at 80% and 100% usage. Hope it works.
I have had Telstra My Hour for a number of years, and yes you do have a 1 hour 20minute window , provided your last call is connected before the end of the hour. A trap for all, is when you are near a State border during daylight saving. Be absolutely certain your phone is connected to a tower in the correct time zone. ie check the time on your phone.
All good stuff, but dont start 10sec. before the time or the whole call will be costly.. Been there .. and there is a place in nsw that has a cell in est but the calls are regested in sa time zone, Brokenhill, we were at whitecliffs made calls and the call were sent to BH .. had a bit of a "what the" rang them and all was sorted.. A big smile again.. My hour is good... had it a long time..

A very good morning to you happy wanderer. You have the $49 cap plan. Are you aware that 1300 and 1800 numbers are not included. They will be billed as an extra cost.Insurance co's, banks and particularly centrelink use 1300 no's.
We have the My Hour on our Telstra plan, and for dummo here, where we have our hour from 7-8pm (Qld), would that mean that if we were over the border into NSW, or any other state on daylight saving, that we would have our hour from 8-9pm?

The hour that you have allocated is the same reguardless of which stste you are in. If you have 7-8 in qld then you have 7-8 in wa , nt or where ever you are, do not try to calculate it to be the same as home as this is wrong.
Telstra quoted that 1300 numbers are charged @ local call rate , but 1800 numbers are a mixed bag, depending on who you call as they all have different arrangments with telstra, so some may be cheap & some expensive, try working that out, he couldn,t even give me an example. Best not to do it.

That is so. I have 2 phones on my hour, one in the morning to catch the business houses and another at night and with member discounts the two phones on $20 plans actually cost me $34 per month. I can talk for an hour and 18 minutes on each but also there is $20 worth of talk time outside my hour. However the 1300, 1800 and 1900 numbers are not free in 'my hour' although there is a move afoot to have them charged at the same rate as for public phones.
Get yourself a handsfree kit and with a phone which shows the time you have been talking wile you are talking, you will not need to go over 20 minutes, just tell the person you are talking to that you have to hang up and call again. My friends are now used to that routine and when at home I still use only mobiles because the 2 phones cost me only $34 per month whereas landline rental is $30 with call costs on top.
PeJay. It pays to turn your phone off and after a minute or two turn it back on when you cross time zones so the phone can adjust the time. Coming across the Nullabor is a nightmare for time zones. It pays to turn your mobiles off occasionally as they can malfunction as mine did this trip telling me I was out of range. Turned it off and back on again and there was a full signal!
I have the $20 phone with my hour and I have the alarm set on the phone so it reminds me when my hour is starting. I can only use it when I head into town as I am in the 2% of the country that has no reception. Funny, a lot of us live in that 2%...
