Broadband for Seniors Kiosk's

Hi to all the GN's out there.
The Federal Gov has funded "Broadband for Seniors Kiosk's" at various locations around the country.
These "kiosks" are usually set up by volunteer organisations such as "Progress Associations" and others.
It is designed to enable people to obtain computer training and the internet particularly in the use of email (setting up an email account) such as G-mail or Yahoo  and learning to attach photos etc.
I have done volunteer tutoring at four "kiosks" during my travels since we hit the road.
I am interested in how many folks are aware of this initiative and if anyone has partaken in the training.
If so did you enjoy it, learn something or recommend it to others.
If there are any computer savvy folks that are interested in tutoring - there is always a need.
I found it very worthwhile and have found it a great way to meet new people.

If you follow this link - all will be revealed.

Cheers
DKay

Thanks for the info DK, it sounds great, especially about the Tutor part, will give it some thought also.

It's a pity about the name they've given this initiative as it doesn't convey the real purpose as outlined by Doug above. Maybe "Computing for Seniors" would be more appropriate and attract more participants and volunteer tutors.

Can't help but feel that the current name is intended to convey some sort of political message given the controversy over the NBN.

Wow! Thanks DKay, you have just answered my prayers! Hubby wants to get into this technological age (big word for this time of morning) and learn how to use the computer, and I am struggling to write down some simple 'destructions' for him to follow, as I am not wiz bang at this stuff myself - but, after looking at the link, I can now send him up the road (there is a kiosk here near our home) for some tuition.

Ta and thank you

June

Most neighbourhood houses or community houses have internet cafes where seniors can get tutoring on computers. There are two here in Echuca and they advertise regularly so all seniors can get in the action.
