No fixed Abode

Was wondering how do'es one get on with regos, drivers licence, Banks, Centrelink etc
if you sellup your home to be permently on the ROAD ????

I know about mail forwarding etc ---- but this would be different would it not --- because I would have no Fixed Address for ID purposes --- and nowhere to have mail initially sent to, to forward on

can you regester a vechile in any state even if you do not permently live there ????

thanks for any replies

Yes you can register in your state of choice. Just make sure you're parked in at the time. Check out the best deal and transfer your rego to that state.
My postal address is my daughter's mail box. I sent her prepaid bags so she can send the mail to me "regularly". It seems her regular means a different time than my regular. Best come to some arrangement before you leave home eg. monthly.
Most of the things you need to deal with can be done online. Clearly you have a computer and internet, so you can set up online accounts to do all this stuff.
Centrelink is everywhere. If you're on any benefit you can claim rent assistance for park space. You do have to get the park staff to sign the rent claim form and take it to the nearest office of "The Department of Anti-social Insecurity", aka Centrelink.
It's a 4 page document, and don't let anyone tell you different. It seems one Centrelink office knoweth not what the other Centrelink office doeth. You will get conflicting information, from time to time (read often). For a Federal Government Department they sure get it very wrong.
There are postal services you can pay for through Australia Post. I don't know if there are any private services available at a cost.
This system works for me.
Safe and happy travels.

As Cruisin' Granny says, it's pretty easy to do most things on line, and we have (for assorted reasons) at least three residential addresses for licence and vehicle registration purposes -- our van 'belongs' at my cousin's place in Brisbane, my licence and the Mazda at our son's place in Perth ($400 cheaper reg than in SA where we started!), and John's licence at our other son's place in Adelaide. We also use a mail forwarding service for the very small quantity of 'snail mail' we still get.

However, you don't need to visit Centrelink each time you lodge a new rent claim. I post ours each time, in the post-paid envelope which they supply when they post us another form -- easy! And, in defence of Centrelink front-line staff, they do have to contend with constantly changing rules and regs about which they are never fully informed; we've found that, approached with a smile and 'g'day', we've always received good-natured help, and even had our reporting, etc, made a lot easier. We reckon the Centrelink and the Australian Electoral Commission are the only two govt. departments that have come to terms with the full-time travelling population (we're formally registered as 'itinerant voters', so get to vote in federal, but not state, elections).

Cheers --

Andrea

A friend's address would be just as acceptable, Stan.
