A while back I asked on the forum where I may find a large kettle. Some kind soul suggested an Indian Emporium. Attached is what we finished up with for $49 - the kettle holds approx 17 litres and takes about half a hour to boil. Money well spent I thought. The stubbie is only there for comparison.. lol
Just a suggestion to anyone travelling through Wondai in Qld. There is a Trading post- second hand store in that little town that has lots of camping "stuff". I know there's a couple like yours, Petengail, and thought it would take too long to boil so didn't buy it. I will next time we go out to our "block". 1/2 an hour's not bad is it. Cheers Dellie

We thought half a hour fine, one and half stybbie wait only delliemay - and more water than management and i can use in a good camp shower (bucket and dipper - the whole kettle fits nicely into a milk crate with a slot cut in one side for the spout..

Yeah I made the fireplace - I was going past a bottle shop which was being demolished (cant resist a dumpster) and the top was a stainless steel shelf, the sides were some other sort of steel shelving which I angle grinded down to size then drilled holes for the wires so it all comes apart and goes into a spud bag

I remember one of those from my Grandma's house out west. It would have been a necessary size when the shearers arrived, as well as for her own brood of eleven.
