Sounds like a good idea to me.  I know Blue would love to be part of that too.

He fishes Burrill Lake here on the South Coast NSW in his little tinny and very rarely does he come home without his dinner.

Well , I have just come back form Nt, Barra fishing at King ash bay , Near Borraloola, and another place called limmen bight on the Nathan river road, towards ROper bar. Caught 14 barras to 90cm at Limmen,in one morning But only kept 5 as my 55 ltr freezer was full and I couldn,t get any beer in. Had to give away some barras to fit the beer in.Also, got some nice crabs and other fish at a place called Bing Bong Which has tarmack all the way, except for the last couple on klms. Best lures were gold bombers and soft plastics. Watch out for crocs. A groper ate one of my crab pots.I,m off to Cape Palmerston , south of Sarina, NQ,on Monday. Will post I,m down there , if in range. Bill

Well!!! I'll be blowed Bill. A girlfriend of mine lives at Kingash Bay. Just across from the pub. We were going to go up last July, but, it just didn't happen. I caught the biggest fish I've ever caught on the Nathan River. At first I thought I had a barra... it fought like hell, but it was a Queenie. I didn't care... It was the biggest i'd ever caught and it game me a great run for my money.. I only had a whiting hook up on my rod, so I was pretty proud of myself. We camped that night at theLimmen, with some blokes from NSW, who go up there each year. Top part of our counrty, isn't it?
Cheers Dellie

Its real topend, alright. We get a lot of queenies here, Magnetic is., QLD, mostly in the winter.I also went to Lorella springs station, but the road down tothe fishing spots was destroyed by drilling crews in 8 wheel drive rigs, making the owner of the station very unhappy. He said that they had the biggest manganese deposit in OZ on the station, which is 1,000,000 acres !Did catch some cherabin and small barras in the laggoons near the homestead but nearly got bogged in buldust trying the go down to the mouths of creeks near the coast.Did you look at the lost world? Will try to go back next year. IT was starting to build up to the wet, so a good time to get out.Bill

oh i once went to the limmen bight stayed on a station out there camped, it was someones
property quite some time ago now, they had choppers it was that big to round the cattle up
sadly we didnt catch anything at the time, they also had huge traps set to catch crocs
there was one hellova croc lurkin around they didnt like at all.

we stayed a few days and headed on to roper bar what a strange little shop that was packed to the hilt with everything and anything then we headed on to katherine.and from there up to darwin slowly.

booraloola is a great place ,went fishing up that way as well hells gate was great we went out to the water from hells gate but for some reason i can never think of the name of the place that we stayed at ,once again no fish there either, one fish (a bream) and it had been living green weed
by the colour of its flesh and tasted like ****e .

from that trip onwards we stuck to the top end, weipa mainly drove a small place mapoon at the time (i believe its become very very popular now and they do the turtle thing and all)we used to drive up the beach to aplace called janie creek ,fantastic fishing ,crabbing the works, but alas too many people found out about it,and next thing its packed every time you go there.

The country up there strikes me as the real outback, just like western Qld, and a lot of other places. The more remote it is , the better I like it.I hope it never becomes suburbia, which as stuffed a lot of places.Bill

Yeah Bill. We did go to the "Lost World". UNbelieveable!!! It's amazing. Glasses..that little shop at Roper makes thousands of $$$$$ a week, believe it or not. Fishing at Kingash one day {4 of us} and out of nowhere comes a crock.... we left the river to him. The locals said he would've been watching us for a while. The only indicator we had of him being there, was a swirl in the water, at first...then we could actually see him. Silent killers.

yup was once fishing off janie creek (mapoon beach ) one hour from weipa next day same spot i was fishing in was a bloody croc as big as my four wheel drive it was bloody huge ,layin on the sand where i was bloody standing fishing eeks what a blast ,we walked up the beach to it and it slid in the water and just layed there starin at us.

i love the outback i have always said the more remote the better ,one day if i win lotto im gonna go remote thats for sure, i love having visitors but i love it when they go too, so if i was remote at least if you see dust on your driveway and know someone is due to visit thats cool if not get the shot gun out i say heheheh :) oh how i miss the outback my hubby knows how badly i miss it i travelled every year before i met my hubby to the remoteness ,and all before it became very popular too, so ive seen the changes over the years and its getting harder and harder to find a remote place i reckon and then when you do the indigenous done want you there anymore that can always be sad .

I agree Glassies. Remote is not so remote anymore. (all these grey nomads) Being 7th Generation Aussie, I was wondering if I could claim to be indigenous. lol

With the vehicles we have now and the facilities on the ground like better roads even if unsealed, or an airstrip on which to land, no one is totally isolated in oz anymore.
But it's good to be as isolated as you possibly can be sometimes, not all the time.
Tight lines to all you hookers out there.

I am in the process of smoking(not tobacco) the barra and blue salmon I caught in NT. On the first fish are barrasfrom Limmen bight. The biggest problem is they are too big- I only have small smoker, and can only fit one fillet at a time! Will post pics and taste test of the finished product.

Here is the finished product. One barra, two fillets, bloody beautiful! The trick is to smoke them for about 30 minutes and keep the finish product away from your neihbours(who ate one of thefillets as it came out of the smoker. Will go well as we watch the Pom get smashed tonight. Bill
