RE: i cant see it happening....

Milo, Milo, Milo, Hey mate it WILL HAPPEN, just not right now, you have been through a lot the last couple of months, and it is catching up to you and making you feel down, it is time for you to get another furry buddy to look after, and take your mind off some of your current problems, if you cannot afford to buy one go to the local pound they have lots of good dogs that need a loving home and we all know that you can and will provide that. Also they give special rates to pensioners, sometimes even free, including injections, SO THINK ABOUT IT OK !!

Also with your van situation, if money is tight, don;t set your sights so high !!
we all know want we would like, but most of us have the rig we can afford. !!

you know i have seen a lot of little poptops for sale, like, the viscount ' nipper '
late 80 to early 90 model in good condition for around $4 to $6 thousand

you get a place to cook, a place to sit, and usually two single beds, one for you and one for this new doggy that you get from the pound
I don't know what car you drive, but they don;t weigh much, and some 4 cylinders would tow it, rear door entry, and roll out awning fitted, what more would you want, it will get you out and about, for a week or two at a time,
think about it ok, !  [ google viscount little nipper and have a look, !! ]

you got a good response from the forum from a lot of people who care, i read them all, and there is a lot of good advice, so you read through them all a couple of times ok, and listen to what they say, when one of us has a clouded mind, we need to take advice from friends with a clear mind, ok.
Oh, and one more thing, stay on this forum and keep communicating, or we will all be disappointed that you did not listen to all your forum friends

THE SUN WILL RISE TOMORROW,   Regards Dazren

There is always a way around it milo. Just keep working on it.
My son in law even suggested the other day why don't I take the back seats out of my little Hyundai and get a tent that erects at the back, thats probably going a bit far.
I can afford to buy a small van and to be able to trade in my car need to do it through a dealer so have been looking at small vans rather than contained campervans.
This might sound silly to some but I am finding it may be perfect for me. A Holden Barina Combi van. I can get a much later model, around 2007, with a very low mileage so that allays my fears of a 70 or 80s van with 200,000 - 300,000 on the clock.

I can fit it out with just what I need and road cost won't be any more than my car now.
It also has two back doors that open right back which gives space for a shower and portaloo tent for longer than one night stops and a large sliding door on the passenger side which I could have an awning put on.
So far its sounds real good. And I am much happier about the age and mileage thing of a dated campervan.
Oh and it also has airconditioning which a lot of the older campervans don't.

Milo, I am so sorry to hear of your bad luck.
Time will heal the wounds, but the fond memories will take a lot longer to fade.
Rejoice in the good times that you had with them.

Re. the campervan, I guess that it is a matter of persistence in searching for a unit that will meet you needs and your purse, patience in the process of sorting out the good from the bad, and downright hardnosed debating when it comes to evaluating the price you have to pay.

If the unit is well above average then don't be afraid to pay a little extra, but if it's below par, reject it.
There are alot of vans on the market: Most of them are rubbish, but there will be a gem or two to be found if you are prepared to work at it.

My own rig is a 1985 Landcruiser Station Wagon and a 1976 15 ft. caravan.
They took a bit of patience to find, but cost me less than $13,000 all up.
They were both in excellent condition with heaps of extras and with lots of life left in them.

I really hope that you find a good traveling rig for yourself soon.
