Camping in a bubble

The front page article reminded me of our first tent which had a sky window. It was wonderful to lie in bed and look up at the stars, especially in Central Australia,... we used to say we had million-star accommodation. Such happy memories.

A camper trailer followed which had boring solid canvas and now we cant see through the roof of pour caravan either. no

I still miss that tent! But who would want to scare the wildlife and camp in a bubble?biggrin

You know, I miss the tent and all that it entailed. The camping was then somehow different. A van's fine but in a way just a bit too "civilised". However, I think (know) that if I spent a night sleeping on the ground, I would never get upright again....

I too miss the tent and the fun times. I can't stand cooking in our van and never have in any of our vans. I have a kitchen set up in the annex and I can't have a fully enclosed annex either- I need to look out and "feel" the fresh air. I even hate boiling the kettle inside. |I won't eat inside either unless I have to, my hubby still asks why do we have a van but the comfortable bed is a bit hard to pass up. We camped on lot of remote beaches and it was so easy with the 4X4 & a light trailer. Back 30 & 40 years ago not many city slickers had 4X4 and life was a beach on the beaches.
