As I posted recently, we are off to Wuruma Dam. I intend mainly fishing for Barra trolling Bomber A's and similar. I will also be fishing from the shore at times probably using bait. I see on the Bundaberg Regional Council's webpage that there are Bass, Golden and Silver Perch, Catfish and Spangled Perch. This will be my first trip freshwater fishing since fishing Eucumbene 30 years ago. Now the big question.... what bait do i use? Someone said that cooked prawns were as good as any? any advice?

Out fishing! Where did you catch the barra?(Is it you?).Use yabbies or shrimp , if you can get them. You can buy bait traps at any tackle store and they are great . Garden worms are a good stand by.Find some trees in the water , tie up and soak some baits. If you have a sounder, troll til you find some fish signs, and then bait fish them.Post how many you catch, I will be interested.

Bill, I guess it was a bit of a Dorothy Dixer for you - thanks for the reply - I will do as you suggest. I know nothing of freshwater fishing north of the NSW border. Yes that is me in the pic. I was younger and fitter. Caught that Barra in Constant Creek, just north of Mackay. Ok who recognises where the pic was taken? Lol I will post a reply on Wuruma, giving a rundown on the place (its free) and success rate or lack thereof. Cheers pete

No worries. As a charter bloke, I am normally out fishing, and guess what I do when I,m on holiday..... I said toMy sister, who is an accountant, I want to retire, and she said"what will you do if you retire?" I scratch my beard, and said,"i,LL PROBALY GO FISHIN". She said"you are getting paid to go fishing, so why retire?" I am still thinking about that one.
