Were at Yanchep Caravan Park & it's predicted to be 38 degrees here but we have the beach & a pool to cool off in if needed.
It looks like it's just the 2 of us on Xmas day but I still have waiting in the fridge a kilo of frozen prawns to cook up, a small ham & a small chunk of smoked turkey (Hylda is allergic to pork). We'll also buy some coleslaw & potato salad, some nice ice cream for desert, plus, we bought a very tasty jar of macadamia pesto in Margaret River & we have some good cheese, gherkins & bickies for a nice snack. And not forgetting a lovely bottle of Margaret River sparkling wine to wash it all down with.
If anyone is in the area there quite welcome to join us.

Last year,we had prawns, home smoked chicken, ham, coral trout , cold salads and the odd beer under a tree at Horseshoe bay on Magnetic island, while playing ABBA at a million decibles, Which didn,t make us popular with the people 300m down the road so we turned the music down a bit. We ate til we nearly busted.Great way to have xmas dinner. We will do the same this year if possible, but there is a low in the Coral sea, and it looks like its going to piss down. It is the wet season , I suppose.
Sorry, you are all welcome. I live at Horseshoe bay, on Magnetic island, NQ.Its pouring rain here at the moment and worse is to come. Blast the weather bereau. Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.
Our Christmas meal on the road was to be at Wonga Beach tomorrow. I just woke up and saw my van almost floating away in my own driveway here in Cairns. Think like Bill our plans have to change and stay home this year. Big low coming in today or tomorrow from the Coral Sea. Hope there is something good on TV.
We are doing roast lamb and pork in the webber with salads. That way we figure we can stick it in and leave it cook while we sit in the pool, then have cold left overs for the next 2 days as well.
It's jolly freezing here. I have been out collecting firewood, had snow the other day. Invited myself to my cousin's place for Christmas lunch, at Crookwell. No sense in sitting here alone.
All the best everyone Allara

Pauline and Ian, I have seen the Cairns flooding on the news, Its terrible up there. Keep safe and stay home rather than be out on the road, til this is over. Keep us informed on the conditions up there so we know you are safe.
When I used to work on Christmas Day in Nursing Homes we got the whole thing with Roast turkey etc. It feels a bit wierd not working any more, but I'm very happy to try getting used to it!
I've never figured out why we need a hot meal in mid-summer, its seafood and salads for us this year.
a note for bill i woulda come and put an axe through your stereo lol fancy playin abba at full decibles there enough on the low decible as it is ,coulda gone some joe ****er or something lol but to each there own , lucky i wasnt camped next to ya lol
Sorry, had the hots for the blond one, Agnetha I think. Must be geting old- still love ABBA, and will play it tomorrow, if the low doesn,t bow us away.Merry xmas to you all.

I'm thanking my lucky stars I left Cairns when I did. It's been cold, wet and windy with minor flooding in SA, but nothing like the prediction for the Qld coast. My thoughts are with you. Take it easy and be careful. Cairns can be nasty when its wet. I drove through some flash flooding up north, between Alice Springs and Kulgera. But it's going to be hot in Adelaide for Christmas. I'm spending it on my own - chicken and salad with a wine for me. My thoughts are with everyone who is facing a natural disaster and adversity at this time of the year, and at any other time of the year. Australia has had more than it's share of natural disasters this year, and there's more to come as the River Murray is anticipated to flood in the next few weeks. Hang in there folks.

Well, just got up, merry xmas to you all.We are being lashed by Tasha, cat 1, which is just sth of Cairns, and heading sw, inland we hope. Pissing down rain and quite windy here at the moment. So much for xmas dinner on the beach.Lets hope it doesn,t intensify.I hope the people in Cairns, and further sth don,t get a bashing. Will keep in touch. Bill
Plenty of rain! The local creek, also called Apjohn street ,is in flood and the culvert back of the house is overflowing. But, my house, which is raised, is above it all , and the boat is safely tied up at Nelly bay harbour. You,ve got to laugh-the creek has decided to run down the road and not the creek bed.Great drainage around here!A couple of years ago, my friends catamarans floated down the street, past my house. We tied them to a mango tree.Just got a kayak for xmas- might have to use it to go to xmas dinner.........
