Tamworth Country Music Festival

We have gone to the Tamworth Country  Music Festival, it was a last minute idea. Was easy to get camping site at the Council Park near Peel St. There are a heap of Vans and Tents here. Its good, no need to drive the ute in, everything in town area walking distance. Been hot but this afternoon have cloud cover and cooling things off. $125.00 for ten days or part thereof. They have a heap of portaloos and shower facilities twice a day, $2 a shower. Not bad i reckon. The crowds are down mainly because of Queensland Floods.

i have just returned from the tamworth country music fest wow was it bloody hot one of them days was 34 ,had a ball stayed at the city lights caravan park, was a little disapointed with the bus service once upon a time apparently they were free and ran here and there ,now you have to pay cost me 4.60 to town one way every time there was three of us so we figured it was easier to chip in for a cab ,well mainly to the longyard as it was only 1.5 klms from van park

have to say the owners of the van park city lights are the most wonderful people and made us feel so welcome even though i partied on in the community kitchen till 1am its supposed to be 10AM but they left us alone till two bloody dutch (young girls) travelling complained, everybody else the next day said wow what a great night you guys had as we had met these young guys from caboolture area who could sing like unbelievable , such lovely young lads with a heart of gold they had a band called cindy and the young singer Kiwi called sterling was just a wonderful guy they sang all the old stuff everly brothers, elvis i was astounded said they were raised with it, dont get many like them anymore.

had a ball going next year for the whole ten days yahoooo

Hey Glassies, Rob says it heaps different from years ago, free buses would take you round the different venues. Not now, the good thing is nowadays drinking on the streets is a no-no. Rob says bottles and cans littered the street everywhere in years gone by. Would have loved to be at your shindig in the Community Kitchen sounds like fun! We going back next yr too.

Lots of thing are different here for festival .. think greed is killing it slowly .This year was the quitest i seen in 12 years some of that would be due to all the floods in qld ... Camping ground near town was only maybe 2/3 full this year..still lots of people but not as many as years gone bye ,,maybe next year will be big as it the 40th year for the festival ....
