Well I know I will be using the standard Australian Emergency number 000....
I know of the 112 number and as has been previously explained by Jimricho, this number simply diverts to the 000 system, it is primarily a multi-service number, if there is no home network available the phone knows to search for another and will continue to do so until it can connect to the 000 operator.
I was taught from a very young age to dial 000 and as they promote on the side of the Fire trucks, Ambulances and Police vehicles in most states of Australia dial 000 for emergencies, if they wanted us to ue another number I am sure we would see a huge information campaign in all the media outlets so why take a chance on not being connected in an emergency.
Bit like ringing KFC and asking for Ronald Mc Donald really when you think about it........
