For those of you with a tent, and those who can remember...
We have found that when sleeping on the blow-up mattress all our body heat seems to go into the ground underneath it, and we are cold even on a warm night. Have tried putting a rug under it which improved it a little.
We used to have one of those self-inflating mattresses which was warmer, but it rolls up into such a big bundle its not practical to carry around... needed the roof-pod just for the mattress.
Any ideas for a comfy bed that can be packed into a small bundle?
When I go Tenting with the air bed I simply take an extra blanket wrap it completely around the air bed then into the sleeping bag and alls well. I also have a ground sheet that goes under the tent.

We have a couple of self inflating mattresses for when away from the van, when solo I use a swag, the matress is only 50mm but I roll it out any where and have not had a bad sleep in it cheers blaze
I use air matress then thin foam rubber one on top .then i made a fited sheet/cover out of large blanket fits like glove over both matresses and is warm as toast in winter and in summer i just use queen size fitted she to kept them both together...

I have two sleeping bags, one old cotton Polyester (woolies el-cheapo) one that goes on the bottom opened out like a blanket and then the newer (carribe) one which I sleep in, I have slept in some pretty damn cold weather since I got here in SA an haven't had an issue yet.
Otherwise lilly has the other solution for you..just seperate the blow up doll errr hum sorry mattress from your body with layers, should keep you warm.

I have a fold up bed with the airbed that slips inside a zip up cover. It was quite comfy as such, but every time I rolled over, everyone nearby would hear it. (Yes, it was the airbed, not me.) And it was a little narrow for my girth. I'd cover it with a blanket, then the sheet etc. I also have a good size stretcher, over which I add a self inflating mattress. That's very comfy. No problems with that.
I didn't use either of them in really cold weather, because I prefer not to go camping when it's cold.
Now I have Gypsy, I don't use either of them. But I'll keep the stretcher for an extra spare bed at home.
Space blankets are great when it's really cold.

When we were "tenting" we used a space blanket under the air bed, and a fleecy blanket under us. Worked well in minus 2, out Gemtree way in winter. Also found a "beenie"was a Must in the cold. Cheers Dellie

you too have blow up doll thought i was only one lol .. maybe we can find one with heater would take care of heating problems when camping lol

Met a couple few years ago who used a woolen overlay on their airbed - reckoned it was really cosy. We have used one of those egg carton foam things, which was ok. but the important thing is something un der the airbed - stop the cold from the ground coming up.

The scouts take a thin, hiking, dense foam mat and sleep on that in their sleeping bags in very cold weather. It stops the cold coming up from the ground. Put one under your matress, get them from the camping/hiking shops. Roll up fairly small.
