RE: I looked at a Toyota HiAce today!!

Sheba, I think you could be right, thats why I put that photo up, so between us I knew we could work it out.

No Not home yet milo, mechanic waiting for parts.

Now I'm really angry. Yesterday when he rang me he said he would takes their plates off and get it deregisterd. I said it could be parked at my S.in.Ls place in their big shed until mechanic could fit it in. He said that wouldn't be necessary as they had plenty of storage space at their yard where it could be stored for me and the mechanic. And they would use trade plates to take it to mechanic.
Now, on my way to their yard to sign the papers which transferred the vehicles to each other, I passed the campervan heading to my mechanic still with their plates on.
I said to him I had seen it go past and he said yes its all been sorted out.

OK!!

I went around to my mechanic later in the day just to see what would be getting done first etc. He said he would only do what was necessary for the road worthy as he was stuck for time as so busy with other customers. he had ordered the parts and they would be here by Tuesday. Would probably take most of the week. He is a single operator and has to try and fit it in. He would do my service and anything else I requested later when we book it in properly.

I said to mechanic that I had told Steve, when I book in for a service I have to book more than a week in advance so will take a while, but he said it had all been sorted.

My mechanic told me "I wasn't asked, I was told" What!!! Now I have an upset mechanic and family as Steve also intimated it was me and my S.in.L who were liars over getting the name of previous owner. Mechanic is also close mates of the other one who did the check for MFord so was eager not to step on his toes as it could have been either who got the job.

There was a few beers drunk over this since yesterday where my S.in.L and my mechanic had a good descussion and they have the same opinion of Steve. S.in.L wants to go down and have his say before punching him in the nose. Which he wouldn't but very angry.
Oh! And he told my mechanic it was not to leave his property, not to be moved under any circumstances. It's not his b......y van, it's mine.

So Monday morning I am going into VicRoads for a Temporary Permit to take down to mechanic. We will unscrew the plates once we have the TP. I will take them back to MF with his Combo van which I feel insecure now driving, get my cheque which he is still holding. Then tell him to mind his own business It is my van and nothing to do with him now. And he better go derigister it like he said he was doing on Friday.

My S.in.L then wants me to write an Official letter of complaint to MF bosses, (which is probably his father anyway)

Wow! This is getting longwinded. Off to get some tea.

From the look of the seats, I reckon you can still loop the dog lead around the headrest section.

Our dog travels securely in an Ezydog harness (http://tinyurl.com/4phromh) that has a fairly solid chest pad, wide webbing across the shoulders and chest, plus a detachable loop that the lap-sash seatbelt threads through.

He can either sit up or lay down, but not stand. In the event of a sudden stop he will not move.

Thanks Ron and Shirley, Have gone into the site. Like the exta support across the chest. Wonder if it would be small enough for Punky. I looked in the cat section. They don't have any.

sorry your having so much trouble with the dealer HW , like i said before , he sounds like a dick..

and Ron & Shirley, I had a similar set up with Ben the border collie when we travelled..
even when we were in my little car he'd sit on the back seat, no worries..

I hope it all works out for you HW ... some places can have bad name due to one dick in the place..

oh with cbs, there like using a phone but you hold the button when you talk , i think trucks are channel
40? and vans are usualy channel 18 if i remember

theres probably threads around on that..

Did you click the "details" box on the extra small harness?

They say size XS is for Toy breeds and give measurements so you can check.

Marj, emailing the company is a good idea, but if he's one of the family, they're not going to take any notice. So I suggest you also email the Motor Trades Association in Victoria and Consumer Affairs or the equivalent in Vic.

These sort of people in business need to be made accountable.

It's a pity you are having such a hard time of buying your van HW.  It's disappointing as it takes some of the joy out of buying your touring vehicle.

Hopefully, it won't be long until  you can put this experience behind you and enjoy the excitement of taking your first trip "Purple Myrtle".

Keep Smiling smile

I have a pet booster seat for my dogs, here is a link, there are a few different ones available from
different places, but this is the one I got, very sturdy and I have a very solid Jack Russell !!

Hope it will soon be a bad dream Marj, it is a pity that buying can't be a pleasant experience like you get with some other car dealers (and not with others).

Once you have it sorted and you have the vehicle in your hot little hands and can add your personal touches you will feel a lot better.

That button on the steering wheel sounds like it may be a remote lock/unlock function? Regards the cord around the pop top canvas/vinyl, if that is on the outside that is to help the material fold back in when dropping the roof, very common with new pop tops now. If that is the case and it has pegs on it I would take them off and they may wear holes in the material over time with movement etc, only put them on when you need them.

Good luck and top marks for perservering, don't worry it is not just females they try to take advantage of, it happens to everyone!  Regards contacting past owners, I have had no problems with this in the past as some have also contacted me when I have sold something also.  Usually you can pick their details up from their previous rego paper or log book, but you have already asked for these and the dealer is giving you the run around.  Also some dealers put the vehicle in their own name so it shows them as the past owner, but keep trying, although if you have had it checked properly it shouldn't make a great deal of difference, try to find out how things work from others here on the forum that have similar vans.

With an older van I would join the RACV if you're not already in it.  You can ring them and ask them questions too they may be able to help with some of your queries etc.

Thanks Vic for that info, will check it out as soon as able.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. This is my 4th vehicle I have bought in my years in Aus and have never dealt with anyone like this before, Its astonishing to say the least. Hopefully will get it all sorted tomorrow.

Will check out that site HeadnHome.

Now off to vacuum, before showering and getting dressed. Can't do much else, its been pouring with rain since I woke. Then spend the rest of day reading Sunday paper.

Bit of rain would be a welcome relief here in Perth ATM, most of the people that I talk to are also over the heat.

Rain stopped, sun out, still very warm. Sorry it doesn't go WA way from here, goes the other way. Saw on news this morning they are in record heatwave over there. Hard to handle, the sports reporter on the early show said his parents live there and are just sitting in front of the air con, nothing much else they can do.

Ezy Dog Harness - Extra Small - 10% off Special (RRP. $22)

· Your dog can be safely restrained in your vehicle with the minimum of fuss by using the detachable, swivelling car restraint
· Durable synthetic materials with a padded EVA Rubber chest support (except XS due to size constraints)
· Easy to fit and adjustable
· Light reflective strands incorporated into the webbing provide enhanced visibility at night

This sounds really good. Not sure what they use in place of the padded EVA Rubber chest support for the XS. Has to be soemthing there but they don't say.

This is the one Ron and Shirley have a link to further up this page.

Mostly in the Perth regions, some other having some rain, Lake Leschenaultia (50 kms East of Perth) has been closed for swimming, see this link;

Have had a tiring day including coming home from town in a rowdy school bus. Didn't time that well did I? They run hourly and I picked the one with the school kids on .

All done, Combo returned to Morley Ford, got my cheque for the difference and banked.

Before that got Temp Permit and took to Mechanic. He said can't do anything without checking with Steve, (taking their plates off etc)

What!! That really got my back up. Showed him the transfer papers. B....... H...... its mine. He also said when done he had to report back to Steve.

That did it for me, When I got my cheque I also told him to go up and take the plates off as I had got the Temp Permit and while there give mechanic ANOTHER order, this time telling him all communication forthwith were with me and not with Steve or MF.

The whole time he was looking at me a little astonished. I was holding my tongue, he didn't ask why and I just wanted to get it all over and done with.

When all over I said thank you and headed for the door. He said how are you getting back into town (about 4ks I think) I said Don't worry I'm calling a taxi as I was getting my phone out.

He said. You don't have to do that I can give you a lift which he did, small talk in the car about the weather and locusts, and that was it.

Thank god I don't have to deal with them again.
My new stickers should be here any day and can't wait to put them on Myrtles bum.

Hey Guys N Gals,

Well HW I sincerely hope you are now in the lap of the happpiness gods with Myrtle, what a shame that salespeople in general have the attitude of a spoilt 2 year old, now you can get on with enjoying your new found freedom with your new best friend.

I for one would definately have given the dealers a huge serve via the local paper by way of a letter to the editor along with a letter to consumer affairs and the State Motor Traders Association and the franchise manager at Ford as well as the owners of the dealership.

Good luck with it all, may you have many years and kilometers of happy wandering.

Hoo Roo Happy Days
Grumpster.
