Forgot to say when I first went in to look at the van he was the one who came out and has carried on with the sale. I certainly didn't ask for him and woulod prefer one of the others whoever they are.
Hi Marj I'm not sure but I think he is one of the Morleys. Worth writing a letter to MF and telling of your displeasure of his attitude This seems to be the attitude of all Echuca Businesses, lack of service and the same take it or leave it . I know lots of locals that are not shopping in Echuca for big items and having a day out and going to Shepp or Bendigo ( normally worth the while with cheaper fuel prices) Ken
You are so right about the attitude of retailers here Ken, they don't seem to really want out custom. I have walked out of shops, where I intended buying something , because of lack of service. Not like they were serving someone else, eihter reading at the counter or playing around with some stock. it makes my blood boil as I would never have done that in my day in retail. Will see what tomorrow brings.
Present company excepted Marj, but they sound like the Kiwis we met at the Ferry Terminal when going to the South Island in the Mid-60's.
Husband at the time [after waiting nearly half an hour to be served ] finally sang out, asking how much longer we had to wait. Was immediately told in no uncertain terms, that "Kiwis serve no-body."
They then went back to chatting about the previous Night's romantic adventures.
Finally got something to eat on the Ferry, after sailing.
Certainly leaves a bad impression.
Cheers, Sheba.

That is so annoying Sheba, it happens all too often. In our day, now that makes me feel old, we would have been sacked on the spot for bad service like that. So many times I have stood at counters here waiting to buy while the assistants stand and chat about the weekend, their boyfriends or some other subject that I am not interested in hearing about. Now a days I just walk out, I don't stand for it anymore.
Ken, I think he might be a Morley too, S.in.L seemed to think so too.
Woooooooohooooooooooooo great big congrats HW. I was itching to find out what your decision was but my computer spat the dummy the last couple of days so today was the first time I was able to get on line re your decision.
Purple Myrtle sounds great.
Just a thought, but if you are a member of RAA (I think it's RACV where you are but I'm not sure), you could give them a ring re the issue of supplying the previous owners name and just mention to the car dealer that you have received advice from them, it's amazing how much more service you receive from car dealers once you mention RACV.
hw, the sales guy sounds like a dick!!! when ever you rego a car you have to get some sort of rego , road worthy check, at least thats what you need to do in nsw ,...
Milo, hes doing the roadworthy and new rego. The problem is he won't give me the previous owners name and address. I only wanted it to get advice on some of the camping details in the back of the van, like how particular things work that he has set up.
Update, S.in.L checked on the Motor Traders Act site online as I said yesterday I think it was and he has to. Just talked to S.in.L. He rang Consumer Affairs today. Morley Ford have to give me that information if I ask for it. They asked for the name of the compamy which S.in.L gave them so not sure if they are following it up but they did say if he won't give you previous owners details don't go through with the sale.
Didn't hear from them today and didn't ring as know they were busy and would get in touch when everything is done. Had a busy day with my poor little Punky going to the vets to be desexed. She has been so quiet since and now asleep under my recliner. I told her she will feel a lot better tomorrow.
So will I as I intend standing my ground now. He might think he has got the better of me because I'm female but I'm a fiesty one when I want to be. The more he refuses the more I wonder why.
If it was a normal car I wouldn't have even bothered but even reading on here us Grey Nomaders love hearing the history of our vans. I just wanted to know how to use a few things without having to pull it all apart to find out. S.in.L said he can work it out, being an electrician, but it's the principle of the whole thing now.
I wonder how Jules is going on her trip, I haven't seen her on here with any updates.
Actually Beth it was a bottle red. And a bright one at that. I am a blonde but decided to have some fun when I went back to NZ for a holiday last year.
NOW I am grey as decided I didn't want the hassle of getting the bottle out every 4 weeks while travelling so let it go natural and grow out the colours I've put since I was about 16. But definitely a very blonde was the natural colour.
Now my hair is the same colour as Bea Arthur from Golden Girls. White on the sides and grey through the middle.
Just a thought. When I trade in a vehicle, the dealer becomes the owner and the warranter? I would not like it if he gave out my contact details to the new owner. Some people can be quite precious about their car purchases.
ChiChi, I wouldn't worry about it at all for a car and I never have. Its just being a camper van and as others have said on here its good to get details of how things work from the previous owner. There's things he has set up in there like the 2nd battery that have been done a particular way. On top of that after enquiring the rules state he has to if asked. Its only because of his arrogant attitude that I have begun to wonder what he's hiding. Even if he contacted the previous owner and got him to ring me, I would be happy.
I should have added I'm not worried about the warranty side of things. We took it to an independant mechanic and came back with a list of minor adjustments. I'm happy with that.
I understand what you are saying HW and in your case it is a little bit different. All things being perfect, the dealer should have been able to advise you on all the workings with no need to contact previous owner. Can you hammer him with all the questions until he gives up and goes back to the owner for the answers?
Hi H.W. Congratulations on your new Van. I read in your previous post that you asked if they did a service with the road worthy. With the apparent attitude of the sales rep it may be prudent to get the service done at your mechanics so that you know it is all done right and you have piece of mind. Happy travels. Regards Jim
Thanks patrolst, yes I was thinking the same. Would rather take the word of my own mechanic and know its been done properly so think I will do that anyway.
Have asked the salesman about different workings in the camper side of things and all I get is "It is what it is" Whatever that means.
S.in.L is not sure if the main fridge is working, and would be easier if we could just ask the previous owner. S.in.L will suss it out ok but extra work on his part that shouldn't have to be. He has a very responsible full time job that takes him away from home a lot and also a pregnant wife (my daughter), They like their spare time to thenselves.
Well Interesting!!! I am now getting the van for 5,500 plus a cheque and taking it to my own mechanic for all the work to be done and rego etc. As he said, he could get it all fixed and I would still take it to my mechanic for a 2nd opimion so what say we sell it as is and you do it all. I will give you a cheque to well and truly cover it all. In total it ends up the same amount as if we had done it the other way but this way it will all be done to my satisfaction. That man couldn't lie straight in bed. When he found out we had rung consumer affairs he denied that he had ever refused to give previous owners details. I've just talked to S.in.L, he said he did so say it and I know he did as I was there when they spoke on the phone plus I had already asked him twice before. Will be a lot happier doing it this way rather than having to deal with him and wonder if he's telling the truth.
Oh and he kindly said I can drive present vehicle for a few extra days while campervan is in getting fixed so I am not without a car for too long. Is that what they call fence mending. I'm grateful for that anyway.
I was smelling a rat firefly, earler when he was being so evasive. But this way works in my favour.
What happened earlier today was I was on my way to supermarket and passed a VicRoads Service Centre in Moama. I looked over and there was Myrtle. I thought What the heck, went to the next roundabout and came back, parked and went in and asked, "Whats the deal with the campervan out there" He said, "Oh, Im checking it over for a client" Me "Oh really, does it need much doing to it" He 'It needs this this and this" And preceeded to read out the list. "Oh ok" I said then what happens" He said " Then the car yard will see if they have a sale or get rid of it as is" "So what sort of figure are you looking at to get it fixed" I said. By the way the list was the same as my independant mechanic had come up with. Oh he thought about 800.
"but they are not sure if they have a sale or not so will have to work out what to do". So I said "Well, I am the buyer, so all that is very interesting" He had rung the yard before I got to the supermarket, so that is how it come about that we made the new arrangement. I will come out with cash to spare. But there are other bits and pieces I will get my own mechanic to do while there and save two different trips to two different mechanics, so it all looks good to me. My S.in.L thinks so too as he is a personal friend of our mechanic.
