We were most excited today to purchase a Sthil Mini Boss MS170 chainsaw for our trips. They were on a sale so we snapped one up, been after something similar for ages.
They had no covers in stock so we will wait for them to come in.
Now for the Honda 2.

Hi Firefly I have a Old Stihl 010AV about 25Yrs old the motor is still going as original but its had 4 chain bars & clutches 8 chains & 4 carby kits in that time & still going. It has cut alot of wood as it cuts our winter fire wood.
we always try to park well away from other camper's when we intend to use our genny, we also try to put it on the other side of our van so as not to disturbe others, Honda's are very quiet
DeBe, the Other Half has an old Stihl too and it still runs well. Its just a bit bulky for what we want it for otherwise it would be the one coming away with us.

I dont mind a gennie turned off by night, carry one and havnt used it yet and would prefer not to and will always try to minimise the noise. We are in a park ATM and some bugger spends half the night snoring very loud, now thats agrovating. Give me a gennie any day cheers blaze
Anyone with half an ounce of common decency has their genny turned off by 8pm at the latest.
This has been the time stipulated in most camp sites we have used and I don't think it is unreasonable to expect gennies to run around the dinner time frame.
Having said that we are like you FF, we consider our fellow campers and in fact only used the gennie for 8 minutes on this trip, just to do some vegies in the microwave.
As for doof doof, since when do ANY grey nomads use a genny to play this sort of music.' GET REAL!!
Hey as an ex Volunteer SES Rescue body of 20 years my chainsaw stays home along with my genny, been far to familiar with them over the yrs. I travel lite 12 volt lighting, and shower, gas to cook and cool and rest the rest of the time with occasional top up of 240 in caravan parks as a luxury to charge the notebook and camera. Less is best dont need fire wood too dam lazy. Turle
