Yes - stil work on the Gap - on stop and go at moment - but it doesn't take long to get through - and one good thing is the "speeders" won't be able to try and push you to go faster - apart from that all roads are good - we have rain today, but probably be gone tomorrow or next day - lots of good places to see around here.,

Evening all. Still waiting on that camper to come through. hopefully next week if it doesnt all fall over and i have to start from scratch again. I think the hardest thing is finding the right camper. Have no idea which way I'm going left or right. Make up my mind as the time gets closer. I'm sure I'm not alone in last minute decisions. Enjoying the chat line thanks. nancy
Hi Nancy, I'm at the same stage you are. Have been looking for about 12 months now and finally decided that I had to choose something. Have put deposit on a van subject to inspection. Hopefully it will come good in the next week or so. Good luck with your purchase.

Wow! This may be more of a complication than I thought to buy a camper of some sort to house 1 for 2-3 months as I visit Australia, travel the continent and go on a cattle drive. It sounds like it takes weeks to purchase a camper. Does it? Or is it something that can be done in 2-3 days?
I have yet to book my flight, but it will be for the 20-something of June.
All advice will be GREATLY appreciated.
Where should I be looking for a camper?
Any ideas on the investment for a simple camper that can house me and my laptop?
I look forward to meeting many of you during my travels.
Hi Lynne...and welcome to the forum.. Pleased that you have decided on an Aussie holiday.
Firstly, to answer your question... You can buy a camper instantly if you wish.
I guess that those of us who contributed to this thread (myself included) may have given you the wrong idea because we were/are focusing on our particular needs and were/are prepared to look around and wait, as we are looking at it as a long term investment. A bit like Goldielocks really...it has to be "just right".
As Australia is a huge place, you will need to tell us which State you will be arriving in so that we can steer you in the direction...correct websites etc; of where to look for your camper. There are plenty available.
Yes, I'll be solidifying that within the next few days ... point of landing. And when you say Australia's a huge place, I can't help but chuckle. For those of who who don't know it (and who live in Canada) we see it as such a small place. That's why I absolutely NEED to come over and experience Australia first-hand ... just to see how HUGE it is!
Lynne - the whole of Europe fits inside Australia with room to spare - as does the US - Britain fits inside the state of Victoria, which is I think our smallest state. We have some postcards available here in Oz that superimpose the US over the map of Australia, and another that superimposes Europe over Australia - two - three months - maybe only the eastern side, or the centre or the west - rushed trip to see the whole lot in that time - enjoy our beautiful country - but please take your time to see the best.

That's super, Jules47! I love visuals. Being from Canada, I do know about large countries ... and making the most while I'm there. I would love your opinion on places to experience.
1. Cattle drive - I need to start calling these places because while they have beautiful websites they don't respond! If you know of a good one I'd love to hear about it.
2. Ayres Rock (please forgive the spelling if it isn't up to snuff). I'm not much of a city person. I can visit them like the rest, but sight-seeing in a city doesn't do much for me.
Congrats! I'm currently negotiating on a Hi-Ace in Tassie, hope to be able to start travels on the mainland in mid-June: But first, get the campervan! I'll be travelling solo as well and will be playing it by ear, so will be interested to hear how you are enjoying travelling. My first run will be to Brisbane where I have family, and it will be folowing the weather from there.
Hi and welcome Roscamper. What is your travel vehicle of choice? Do you have any particular destinations in mind? This is a very friendly, informative forum, and we do meet up with each other from time to time. Generally speaking we're all doing our own thing and when our paths cross we make the most of actually meeting friends with travel inc common. There have been gatherings at chosen destinations, but most of us do it by ourselves. I'm not aware of any gatherings at the moment. I haven't heard of any group tagalongs either. Safe and happy travels to you.

Hi Lynjacob - sorry to take so long getting back to you, but your message got lost in with some others somehow. All got a bit confusing - anyway sending you a private message.
