Injune tourist information centre

G'day everyone, I would like to post some comments on the Injune info centre for GN's travelling North on the A7, Roma...Injune...Carnarvon.

This fantastic information centre has been substantially upgraded in recent times and the town deserves a big pat on the back for the effort that has gone into the building and the staff who put in their time free of charge.

Please try and take the time to stop, visit the centre (free coffee, tea etc) talk to the staff, they have so much local knowledge to share with you and some great tips on where to stay, freecamp etc.

ps: Beware! Wandering livestock pretty much everywhere; not a pretty site if you hit something.

I should have gone in there last year, but kept going and was blocked at the Comet R , 10 klm south of Rolleston. Had to go all the way back to Roma and up the coast road. There were NO road closed signs at Injune, and the coppers said its out of their juresdiction. They even tried to fine a guy who lost his new $80k landcruiser ute at the Comet, for disobaying road closed signs, which, by the way, were under water. Its good to see the info centre open , though.

A long time ago someone posted that the caravan park at Injune was good and not too expensive, and I've noted it in my "Places to stay" book. Tried the "Search" button and cant find it

Edit: here it is...

It would be interesting to know how many of these tourist information centres are "manned" or "personed" by volunteers.
Many of them are set up by local councils, but run by hard-working, loyal, proud locals, voluntarily.
They deserve our support, just like the communities they represent.
This tourism industry is bigger than we think, and we The Grey Nomads are a large part of it.
Free campers and park users spend a lot of cash as we go.
