A Must for all Nomads on and off the Black Top A good Snatch Rope

We were going up the Clyde Mountain NSW south coast on the start of our trip to WA, just got to Pooh Bear Corner which is a very tight and steep pinch near the top when the Nissan Patrol stopped over heated and no traction . A chap stopped to help with the traffic in pouring rain when along came an emty skip bin truck who offered to tow me up the top but had no tow gear. Then it came to me my survival kit has a brand new unused snatch rope and that did the job to the top. The mechanical problem was a blown hose coming off the Turbo so it could happen anytime.

Cheers

I have two snatch straps just incase we have to link them together to form a decent tow rope. I know that corner well, lived in Canberra for years. The road was always awful is it still as bad as it always was? Talk about the King's highway....... NSW Govt will not spend money on people going to and from Canberra. Nice bit of country though...

The problem with recovery gear is you usually wind up using it to save some idiot who got himself into trouble on a slippery road with near-bald tyres (as happened to Mr D). Got no thanks, and his snatch strap all muddy!!

Its nice to see that you got the benefit of it yourself BrucenJude. Our bag of recovery gear came with a video explaining its use... a very good investment!

Edit: Please see new thread "Snatch straps, and the dangers"
