bloody generaters

I was at Yaamba, nth of Rocky,QLD,last night hoping to get a good nights sleep having driven from Townsville, and a semi pulls up beside me and starts a noisy diesel gen, just to run his aircon. It was humid, but he didn,t turn it off til 3.30am!i couldn,t sleep and evertually, 4am, packed up and drove to Calliope. At least it was quiet there. Managed to sleep til 6.30am. Some people are bloody inconsiderate. I suppose he couldn,t hear anything in the cab(and I said a few nice words) of the prime mover, but it would be nice if people would turn them of at 8 or 9 pm.I usually try to park away from the main road, but was too tired. Has this happened to you?

Fully agree with Old Briney he is driving for a living not for the hell of it. I always try to find a spot where trucks can't reach but if you pull off on an old road bypass that provides easy truck entry exist then expect the Fridgies and bigger rigs to pull in

Hi Bill,
If I'd known you were coming through, you could have stayed in my backyard.  I've got plenty of room, and no real close neighbours.  You'd have had a nice quiet nights' sleep, and been woken by the birds in the morning.

Would have taken you about 20 minutes out of your way, but you would have been well rested this morning.

Cheers,
Sheba.

Bill as Wombat said , it was probably a fridge motor . I usually get back to sleep with them
BUT it's th bl..dy cattle trucks , cows walking around all night , once I woke up from them,
I think it was the inconsistancy of th noise , one could not get used to it .
That's why I used to love pulling right off into the bush , where it was Dark & QUIET .
My avatar shows one , this is west of Wyalong on Hay road .

Yes this has happened but not trucks as much as those in conciderate caravans and motorhomes that think of nothing but themself.

I always look to see if they have any solar pannels and if there are none you can be quite certain they live by the Generator.

Always amased at how many people think the generator has to go on when the sun goes down.

This just indicates they are not set up very well because even if you have to use a generator if you have adequate batteries you could use it in the day to charge up the batteries and then nice and peacfull at night when the noise even travels further.

I am camped at the rotary park across from the pub, and didn,t ask about a powered site. The truck was a low loader and all he was powering was the aircon in the cab.I don,t mind gensets as a rule , but you,ve got to turn them off at a reasonable hour. There were a dozen caravans and campers, and a few semis, but he was the only one with a genset. One of the worst night I have ever had, and I have been around.

We often get caught up in noisy spots, close to Highway, camp spots with gennies, Truck stops ect. I have found a good solution to these problems. It is called EAR PLUGS

We've been caught in these places as well; we had 2 choices, move, or get over it. Perhaps we should all stop being so precious and start being a little more tolerant. Kevin & Jan

Stopped out Dubbo one at road side stop. Only ones there apart from combi. Thought at time would that person ever settle and go to sleep. Wizz bang wizz bang. During the night two roadtrains pulled up one in front of us and one behind. Didn't even hear them come in though the others heard lots. and now I'm about to buy a wizz bang?. LOL
