buying a van

I had a look this morning at buying a new van(pop top, about 17ft, no shower or toilet & liked the Galaxy  regent

Also quite liked the Coronet prince

Didn't mind the Jayco discovery

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

Would recommend one with at least a toilet John, I'm travelling along the Newell towards Qld and have found a lot of the toilets at rest stops are closed and it can be a long time before next town....not so bad for men but if you have a lady travelling with you its not so easy to just pull up on the side of the road lol  :)

Or even a portaloo gilly. Where are you up to now??

I'm surprised the toilets being closed at the rest stops. Thats all I've ever used in the past, had to cross my legs a few times waiting to get to the next one as good distance from one to the next.

Some brands mentioned are pretty good choices, with a couple of others better left in the dealers yard.
I've sent you a PM.
Cheers, ozjohn.

Hey Guys N Gals,

Yeah for those that are old enough, they used to be called public conveniences, now they are so rare due to the vandalism that they are now known as Public Inconveniences....

Have doen many K's and found more closed and locked after 6pm than there are open, so much for public infrastructure. Just another lttle thig thats being removed/reduced while our rego etc..climbs further and further towards being unaffordable.

Hoo Roo Happy Days

I'm at Narrabri Marj just arrived at lunch time and wandered into town to get myself a nice coffee and everything was closed lol so had to make my own :)

2 rest stops in a row have had notices accross them saying 'do not enter closed' I was quite desperate when I arrived here today.  I have a little portaloo but can't get to it on the road as my vans all folded up and can't really sit on it in the car...too much traffic lol thats one of the advantages of your camper van Marj and also anyone in a caravan they can just pull over and hop into the back no worries.

Of course, all that top point on yours is folded down while travelling. Hadn't thought of that. Thought you could have the portaloo just inside the door, go in and shut the door, but not possible. Can you put it up easily if you really needed to?

I know Narribri. Only ever gone through in a hurry so looking forward to stopping longer in places like that.

I find if all cafes closed, most McDonalds have a McCafe now and do a good cappachino.

We stop at Narrabri when going North as well. Last decent coffee till we get to the Territory usually. smile

Watsons Bakehouse is where we stop and there is a Tourist Information Centre in the street behind the bakery with excellent parking as well. wink

Do some of you guys have a toilet fetish or what?
The Thead has been hijacked from 'Buying a Van" to 'Public Toilets' or lack thereof.

Happy Wanderer I think the point John was making a Member on his 2nd. post ask a important request for help and the post get side tracked about the lack of WC on the Newell hyw.

Yes I know brickies and I'm sorry about that. That is why I started up a fresh thread for Gillyb.
Apologies John French, we are all a bit eccentric in our own way, hope to meet up with you along the road somewhere, when you do find your suitable moving livable quarters.
I am of no help at all I'm afraid.
