We looooooved Woodlands Big 4 in Atherton, we didn't want to leave. Looooooved Atherton also, such a friendly, clean town.

Roma Gun Club has opened a park within their grounds.Very clean and tidy,GREAT ameneties(new) with different areas to stay within the area, all close to amenities.The club has by far the best rates in Roma $25 per night,pay 3 stay 4 or $120 per week which is way cheaper than the C/P
or showground.The manager is a good bloke who does a B/B/Q on Thursdays for $5 per head.If going to Roma give the club a go,I don't think you will be disappointed.

BROOME - Buckley Bush Retreat

Buckley's Bush Retreat just out of Broome is excellent value for money at just $15 per night for caravans. It's a little off the beaten track, but we managed to get our 30' caravan in there without any problems. There is a separate area for those with generators, but we did find that some people ran their generators until 11:30 at night. Apart from that, it was good value.

YOWAH, Artesian Caravan Park

Yowah caravan park is a little gem for those looking to kick back for a few days or even a few weeks. If you like opals fossicking and Great sunsets this is the place to be. The artesian baths are a treat for the cold days/nights.

The cost is $22 for a powdered site with water and you can use the communal fire with damper cooked at 4pm most days. The owners are the most friendliest people and run a tidy park.

The office/shop is very well stocked with everything you will need including Fuel at when we visited was $1.40Ltr. The road to Yowah is sealed and is a good surface.

I found all the people staying at the park in good spirits and very helpful in giving tips on where to find opals which we did. I will be back for suresmile

Stayed at Yowah quite a while back now - the CP was good, and a guy from one of the "commercial" miners used to leave cut pieces of stone to fossick through - got a couple of nice bits from there, as well as out in the scrub.

The store use to open - "when I feel like it" we were told - usually around mail delivery time, and not for long either. He had it pretty well stocked though, used to do a great meal on Wednesday nights, and fish and chips on Sunday nights - cheap as well, and the whole town used to turn up.

Went on to Opalton from there, but got rained out on the second day there - early morning three planes passed overhead, and it was if they had pierced the clouds - turning a tap on! 4WD all the way out with camper trailer on the back - ended up in Winton Motel/RSL - no room in the CP. Couple of guys we met got the last room after us - they came from further out - and ran off the road three times on the way in. A tour bus tried to pass a bogged car - off the road - guess what - bogged and full our tourists - had to get a grader out to tow them out - not happy tourists on that tour to Lark Quarry! The black soil out there is deadly for bogging.

I am a traveller of 14 years and I have seen many good caravan parks but the one that I enjoyed the most so far wasn't because it was big and flashy but because the dedication of the owners to make sure all guests were happy.  Stephanie & Dan, the owners of MITCHELL CARAVAN PARK - BOURKE are a young couple and they supply the guest with HAPPY HOUR several nights a week which includes Hamburger night, Pizza night all at a very reasonable price. These wonderful meals are eaten while sitting around an open fire chatting with other travellers. If you are in Bourke come and stay, Steph & Dan will make you very welcome. Pets are welcome with the usual rules which apply all over.   Safe travels from T.O.T [Travelling Old Tart]

Re Gateway,  Grafton,    no they don`t take pets,  but the best park in the area.      I live in Grafton,    and if I was travelling that is where I would stay.      I visit there thru my job,   and yes the staff are great.        We are part time Grey Nomads.      Happy travelling everyone,   and Merry Christmas.     Stay safe on the roads.

Black River Caravan Park at Black River Townsville . Stayed for a week Best Camp kitchen and clean amenities. All sites drive through and plenty of space and grass . It even has a nomad Gym for everyone to use . smile $32 pn powered site or pay 6 stay 7night special for cash $186. We will be back during season as the activities and food nights look very interesting :)

North Bourke's Kidman's Camp is a great "Bells and Whistle" park that we treat ourselves to after roughing it out in the desert country. It also has the added attraction of Paddle Vessel Jandra doing daily trips on the river. www.kidmanscamp.com.au/bourke/

We have found the gold standard caravan park at Streaky Bay in SA

The park is Islands Caravan Park about 6k out of town about 7 minutes out of town

The park is really well laid out with large sites allowing plenty of room for the Van with extended awning and the tow parked next to the awning.

The facilities are second to none . Each block has about 6 to 8 INDIVIDUAL bathrooms and several toilets

The  camp kitchen would do justice to any upmarket home

If you are travelling the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula this is a must stopover an I'll bet you spend more than one day in the area

Don't stay White Rock- Cairns south..Very cramped,$140+ pp..& dubious,shady other tenants.Bad reputation..always LOOK at a site- before entering a park- or you'll get -" herded--" without choice..

Agrees,Atherton quite brilliant.Always easy parking,shops have anything,great variety.Town' s built on a low hillside & well planned.Short drives to 6 different towns & many popular markets

+1 for Islands Caravan Park Streaky Bay. Another good one is the Big 4 Renmark SA. In Queensland the Rollingstone Caravan Park about 50ks north of Townsville.
