My partner Rick and I are "newies". We have observed this site and find it welcoming and very informative. A decision has been made to pack up, rent the house out and travel/work a little and see this grand country. We are presently looking at caravans and the towing vehicle looks like being a Land Cruiser. late 90's. We have a motor bike we would like to take as well. So far Rick has come up with the idea of a rack design for the back of the L/C and taking the front wheel off, replacing with an axel to run along the rack. Ideas would be wonderful please. We will be on here quite a bit looking for your assistance and ideas as you dear people would be our best teachers. Thanks and safe travelling

Welcome to the forum and good luck to you and Rick with your travelling plans.
I'm afraid I cant answer your query for the motor bike rack, but I think your query would be better placed in the "General" section. Type it in there and see what happens.
hey guys. we are also brand new members and we have the same plans underway and looking at leaving after christmas once the van and tow vehicle are purchased . we are looking at a landcruiser ute to allow for my motorcycle to be transported, i am going to install a ute crane and sling the bike off the back of the tray, the cranes have a lift capacity that will easily lift the bike and it saves my back. the cranes start at around 200 dollars. hope this helps
Yep, welcome to both of you from me as well - and as jimricho says - try the "general" forum for generalised queries - more likely to get some answers that way - wealth of knowledge here, as you will find. Have fun, join in, and happy travels when you take off.

Wow, good to know we are not alone in our journey and thoughts. Thanks so much for the feedback. Haven't been on for a while that's why it took some time to answer. Will have to get off those silly facebook games and settle into some serious stuff like this
We were leaving around Decemeber but have decided to send the bike across to New Zealand and tour around the islands for about a month. So looks like we'll head down to Tassie around Feb. Rick has worked out a plan for a track into the back of the L/C and has advice on its manufacture. All seems good. We will have to swap the Yamaha FJR for a Suzuki V Strom 1000. It is higher off the gound for dirt riding and smaller in all round size than the FJR. We are not "little" people, so not to look ridiculous we can't go to far down in size. The caravan it appears will more than likely be an expandable, not pop top. Would have liked to go the toy hauler but we aren't wealthy travelers haha.
Hope to hear back from you and some of your plans and ideas
Keep happy, Jeannette and Rick
