The same thing happened in a tent near Port Macquarie in NSW  just after Christmas

If it was gas ..why would they have it in the tent ??

If the news report I heard this morning is correct then the Father & Sister have both died in hospital overnight.

So sad...

Yes saw the news, the 3 of them have died.
I don't understand anyone having a gasbottle in a tent. I hate even having one in the campervan all be it on the outside in a properly contianed area. Its a nono to have them in a tent, I read about it all the time.
So sad for the family.

The report says that the flames were 15 - 20 metres high before the explosion so the gas bottle may have been outside the tent, with a fire that intense the heat would have been incredible, luckily only one tent was involved.. cry

Seems like it was not the Gas bottles. They were reported just a few hours ago as being intact.

Possibly an electrical device exploding !! according to the report.

That is so sad. Not the gas bottles. Wonder what it was then. something we need to be more aware of. Hopefully the investigation will find the cause.
