oh yeh whille i am venting what about the dimise of the humble fishing comp, here in SA there use to be a fair few fishing comps spread out over the year but thses seem to be getting fewer in number, maybe the GFC had something to do with it as i guess money is tight for everyone but really come on bring back my the fishing comp's, i know they may not be politically correct but i don't care

I used to be president of a local fishing club and the thing that stopped us was public liability insurance. It got so expensive, we couldn,t afford it , so no competitions.A bit sad , really. The annual Mackerelama was good fun.Clubs have to be covered for everything , these days.
Had the same problem with my old car club i used to belong to...public liability eventually stopped us from holding any car shows which we used to do on a yearly basis for chariity.. bit of a bummer really
Been fishing for the last 8 weeks around warrnambool/portland and now in pt hughes SA and guess what there are no bloody fish unless you are going out 60 klms out to sea
Plenty of fish and beautiful weather up here at Magnetic island, QLD.got a 5kg queenfish, and some nice school mackerel here , yesterday. Big bream and grunter off the ramp, just down the road from my house. The "winters" are hard here.

Must be plenty of fish at Edithburgh, just come from there & must be at least 20 boat trailers at the ramp. Nephew is a pro fisherman here & recons we need a good bit of rough weather as its been too calm for too long & the fish have slowed down.
