First time was so great, we're doin' it again!

Hi everyone,

Last year hubby and I took three months off work to travel Brisbane to Broome and back in our Mazda B50 Duel cab and Jayco Dove Campervan....and what a trip it was. We had a ball, so much so that we can't wait to get back on the road. So around late October this year we'll be taking early retirement and heading off indefinitely.

This time we've upgraded to a Jayco Sterling Pop-top 17.5' with shower/toilet so I can skip those wonderful midnight strolls to the amenities block that all us ladies love...NOT!

We thought about selling up but have decided to rent the house out, our daughter is a Property Manager so we'll be leaving it in good hands.

The plan is to head south to Sydney first for some family time before heading further south and turning right when we hit the Great Ocean Road....and off into the wild blue yonder so to speak.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and learning a thing or two....

Cheers,

Hi guys and welcome to the forum. smile

Its amazing how quick the travel bug hits and sticks once a trip is undertaken isn't it.

Sounds like a nice van you have chosen and the shower and loo will make a world of difference.

We have just gone from the Jayco Hawk to a Windsor Rapid and happy hour comes so much quicker with the minimal set up required compared to the Hawk. wink

Heaps of great members on this site and all will to help in anyway they can so enjoy the fun. smile

Thanks for the welcome Firefly.......yes the bug sure has bitten and we can't stop scratching LOLOL

And what really knarks me is that for years and years I wanted to buy a caravan but hubby wasn't all that keen....and now he's like a kid in a candy shop and can't get enough....guess we have a lot of catching up to do but it'll be fun trying  smile

Good to see you here Lynden.

Darryl and I are just starting a trip to go to the Darling river and then SA and we are going to take nearly 5 months to complete the trip - and then we will plan the 'round the block' one.

It can be very hard to settle back to the "old" life after that sort of trip. We took 4 months LSL, back in '93, and spent much of it in WA. We too fell in love with the Kimberley. They do say that once you've drunk water from the Ord River, you will always have to keep going back. Couldn't get rid of the travel bug after that and finished up retiring early - very early, ages 52 and 57 - and heading off with the van. You will never regret it.
