Any other solo travellers willing to share places which charge by the person, not two adults but one. As a solo traveller i have found most parks charge for two. But here are a few that don't.
Blue Mtns katoomba or blackheath
Most National parks (if not free)
Ulladulla headland tourist park. (its not on their website but ring and ask)
this thread will be useful for us solo nomads, unfortunately I can't contribute to it having been only to two locations and they charged per site not per person. Will be watching for other's contributions
The Normanton CP here in North Qld in the town of Normanton does also provide a special price for single travellers and still also throw in that 'free' day if you are staying for a week .. get 7 days for the price of 6 ..
Welcome Stoney 123. I hope you enjoy your stay on Grey Nomads. I've come across several parks in my travels which consider solo travellers, but never noted them. If I mention there is just one of me they take a second look at the van, then me, and some then take a few bucks off. We all use a site but we use less water, probably no less power, so their bills still have to be paid. It's not about the space we take up. A few bucks off over 10 parks works out to be worthwhile. What does gripe me, whether there be 1 or 2, is those exhorbitant site fees, more than $40 per night in some cases, eg Broome. They even advertise blatantly what their fees are during the year. Wet season, mid season, (April to end of May), then peak season, June to end of September. In my perception it's not good publicity.

the parks i have mentioned give 50% off for single rate. That is substantial. They do it because it gets repeat visitors to their region. (they are both council parks) so they are not paying off multi-million dollar pools and cabins.
btw, Pambula wanted $38 a night for a tent site. I went up the road to Nat park and got $10, 10km up the rd the next nat park was $5.
I have had a couple I have stayed in this year that have a 'single person' rate ... but cannot recall them all ... will research my diary and post later.
In the meantime, one that comes to mind is Waranga Basin Caravan Park, Rushworth Victoria. It is fairly good park - open park and good basic facilities.
Cheers and happy travelling
John

Another clue is to mention "Seniors Card" if you have a seniors card. They are more likely to give seniors discount than pensioner discount. It's usually about 10% discount. Park membership is also well worthwhile if you frequent caravan parks. I've found Top Tourist is fairly obliging and generous. Big 4 have gone all kiddy and family, and as a result of constructing spectacular playgrounds and jumping pillows the fees have been increased considerably since 2008. Family and Oz Parks are also about 10% off on average. I'm not a member of any at the moment because I'm not on the road full time. These memberships are usually for 2 years - a small investment for a big discounts over time.

thanks everyone, keep them coming, i will eventually put them in one posting. We are starting to get a good east coast and NT join the dots for a top cheap trip....
Gday... One more came to mind - Wangaratta Caravan & Tourist Park, Parfitt Street (main highway), Wangaratta. Did a 'single rate' when asked .... and gave a free night after I had stayed for a week and then decided to stay for a couple of nights more. Good park, roomy, good amenities, quiet and not too big. Cheers John

Kenilworth (Qld) Showground - $12 a night for a single. Nice place lots of arty type shops around and a cheese factory that has tasting of their cheese and yoghurt.
All the way from Melbourne to Yeppoon I have only come accross one to give a singles discount and that was the Blue Sky Van Park at Narrabri........and how the parks are getting more and more expensive the further north I get in Qld not much under $40 a night in Airlie Beach !!!!!
Possum Park (Miles Qld) and Inverell Caravan Park (Nthn NSW) both do a single rate ($5 off). Big Sky at Narrabri is also very handy to CBD and RSL club for a meal.
I think Airlie Beach is overpriced and over-rated generally.
tks for the tip about airlie, was planning to stop there next winter. my mate goes there but he just fishes and fishes. i will now catch a few or pincha couple of his then move on.

Boy do they have some NICE cheese to sample too. If you are going to buy some it is going to be a hard choice. We opted for the one with the garlic but it took a lot of sampling......giggle.......to finally decide.
The pie shop in Kenilworth is worth a visit too. Don't forget to leave a little bit of pie for the cat. He just loves 'em.
