You could add some "nulon to the oil to give it a bit more life. Its an oil additive that thickens up the oil and fills the gaps in . It will not last for ever, but willgive the motor abit more life before a rebuild.Repco or Supercheap have it.Ask the staff. Its cheaper than a rebuild.

In the past I used a product called STP which was similar Bill, had a couple of smoke blowers with worn engines, worked a treat and save expensive motor repairs.   Put it in the oil filler while the motor was hot, then drive around the block a couple of times and voila, no more smoke!  Like the nulon after awhile when the smoke becomes obvious again you had to add some more but it lasted awhile.....oh.....and never change your oil, just add to it if it is getting down a bit........this is for old motors I wouldn't do it on newer motors.

HW.Just a suggestion. Are you using the correct engine oil filter? If not this can cause problems similar to yours.Have a mechanic or if you have a workshop manual or handbook check out that the filter is correct. As an aside there are or were engines made that ran on what was called a total loss system, mainly aircraft engines though. You could also ask the Nrma or similar for help.Good luck Marj.I wish we were a bit nearer to you to be able to help.Cheers Ted.confuse

Morning all. When I spent just on 2000 on it before heading off my mechanic replaced the Oil filter, Air filter and Fuel filter. Thank goodness I kept the invoice/receipt. Has come in so handy.
The Oil Filter is a Z68. The Fuel filter is a Z91.

Not sure if that makes a difference but they were replaced.

I can't do any more now till mid June when I come back from Geelong, so no use getting up tight about it.

Will just get on with getting organised to go to geelong. Off now to go see my pregnant daughter who I haven't seen since I got home.
She's just spent two hours at the doctors surgery having the glucose test, now gone back to work.

Hi Marg,

In the meantime (until you can get to see them) I would ring those that have handled or worked/inspected your vehicle and let them know about it, and record the date/time and who you spoke to etc.

Just let them know you will be away and will be sorting it out when you get back.

If you leave it to mid June they can ask why are you just saying something only now (mid June) and try to fob it off.

Just a suggestion,

Vic

Thats not a problem Vic. Mechanic already knows about it as had to ring him when I ran out of oil. Anything since then my son in law knows all about it and sees him every friday arvo after work for a chat. He will update the mechanic on Myrtles progress. They will know why I haven't been in by the time I get back from Geelong.
Its not a large garage with a heap of mechanics.
Its an owner operator garage, my son in law is best mates with him. Can only go back to him at this stage as he did all the other work and will have knowledge of what has already been done.
Any nonsense and I will be looking for another mechanic.
Would have to book it in anyway.
If he wants to see it any earlier my son in law can come and get it, will leave a spare key with him.

Sorry to hear about this Marg. Like most things like this, it can be very very difficult to work out what is going on, online. I wish you luck with this, please keep us posted, the oil has to be going somewhere, that stuff doesnt just disappear by itself & normally there are tell tale signs of what is happening.

I will run this past a friend this week, see what he has to say about it, I will get back to you if he can suggest anything, im having the old pc problems & fairly tempted to pour some oil of a different kind ontop of the notebook.

CHIN UP!
