Squeaky runners are often the result of friction between smooth soles and polished floors, one solution that often works is to get some fine sandpaper or wet n dry and roughen the soles of both shoes all over, hopefully this will remedy the problem.

If the sandpaper dont work, try an angle grinder.

you are being silly now, thank god I am never like that

Jeez you lot are absolutely bonkers. And that's the way I like it. Ah hah, ah hah!
And as for the shoes, you may try tampering with the pattern of the sole with a hot wire, or the sand paper might do it.
It depends on the material the sole is made of. Or is that the "soul". Mmmm, now I have a dilemma.
Anway who cares! At least everyone will know where you are at all times. Unless of course you start walking on your hands.
Don't wear the shoes at home, only when you're out. Then you can embarrass your missus in public. How embarrassment!

Ever thought that may be why they were in the 2nd hand shop in the first place, the previous owner was also tired of the squeak. Get rid of them quick, off to the op shop for some other mug to put up with.

Listen you lot, I leave the forum for a bit and look what's happened furious.....Not only do I have squeaky shoes but now I have wet pants too cry.........love your sense of humour folks and I did leave myself wide open wink

Thanks for the sand paper tip Goinsoon, will try that later and let you all know how I got on, after I change my pants biggrin  And also the hot iron tip GN.smile

HW, I got two identical pairs at the op shop both the same size so I assume they were from the same person, one brand new, one slightly worn, the latter did not squeak at all (probably worn in).   One pair cost me $6, the other $5, new these shoes cost over $200 a pair.  My thoughts were perhaps the original owner had died (perish the thought) cry

I wonder if the current pair I'm wearing is complaining I'm a "cheap, cheap, Charlie"wink

Hi Vic,

Have you checked to see what difference there is between the Soles of each pair ?

You might find your answer there.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Vic, now i know you have two pairs the solution is easy, wear one shoe from each pair and the squeak will only be half as bad biggrin will not stop the squeak but it will make it a bit quieter for the mrs.

Another thought (if you wear one shoe from each pair) is when the mrs asks you to hop down the shops she can go with you, because you could hop on the shoe that does not squeak.biggrin

The previous owner may have been deaf and did not know that there was a problem with his shoes.

Both pairs had the same sole Sheba (identical shoes) but I have thown the other pair out as they had a tear inside the lining that was giving me blisters.

Maybe the squeaky ones were missing their mates wink

And for you other lot, names have been taken and you will NOT be going to the sky on high when the next date is due wink biggrin

PS:  I suppose with thongs you don't have to worry about getting your shoes and socks wet  no

Vic, nobody would see a tear inside your shoe.

In regards to the thongs, I think you would get your shoes and socks wet as it would dribble down your legs, because there is not much material in those thongs, have you seen some of those girls at the beach in those things, I spend a lot of time at the beach. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

When the hubby wears thongs to or from the pool or the spa, his feet squeak too. Does that mean I've got to take to his feet with an angle grinder? I think I might wait until after his podiatry visit next Monday!!!!  confuseconfuseconfuseconfuseconfuse

Well thanks (NOT) Wombat.........I told you not to mention my "secret fetish"........now you've blown my cover furious

Well tried the sandpaper and scuffing them on the road and footpath but still no joy.  So more sandpaper, rasp file, wire brush  even a saw blade.....haven't tried them again yet, but not expecting that they will stop.

Couldn't get a pic on that link CCB......only a black screen ?

Can't guarantee this, but it can't hurt to try it.

Can you let us know if it works please ?

Cheers,

Why would he go to a second hand shop for a pair of shoes?
Isn't that where you get a second hand?
