I don't think talon rat pellets will work. Or you could try what I did with the live one who was too sleepy to get out of my way.
Grab it by the tail (laces) take it out into the garden and bash it to death with a tomato stake.

Maybe its not the sole but inside the base of the shoe thats causing the squeaking.

Wommy thats easy mate, you gotta convince her the purchase of the new puter is her idea and it will benefit her in some amazing way, OR, buy it for her for a birthday or ..... better still, your a bloke right, well you gotta have a cunning kick somewhere, sneak out this week, get the puter, mail it to yourself with Grumpy's name as the sender and let her think you won it on the Goeys mate. rofl.gifjawdrop.gif  headbang.gif

Now that was easy wasn't it. wink

Only just realised I have a similiar story. Bought a pair of sketchers from the op shop. Oh so comfortable I can live in them. One of that plastic rings keeps coming out of its place so I keep sewing it back in. Don't want to part with them.
BUT. I bought a pr of black slip on runners from Rivers some time back. Now that it is cold decided to wear them yesterday with socks. I can't keep them darn things on. My heels slide in and out of them at every step. So tried them without socks. The same thing happened. So they will be going to the op shop. Hope the person who buys them has more luck with them than me.
I've had a similar pr before which I had no problem with.

Well, I have been busy with other things so haven't tried the other remedies yet, but in the meantime have decided to become a Genie as then my feet don't have to touch the floor. wink  (PS:  Make a good logo on someones van......not mine though)

HD......probably some GN bought them in SA (GN's are notorious for raiding op shops in their travels) and when they got to WA gave them to another.....hmmmmm..........hmm

Wombat (fellow sandgroper), get rid of the wife and marry a female IT expert who loves PC's, then not only can you have what you want but she can fix or convert them too !  Mind you she may not be any good for anything else (spending too much time on your computer) but then life is full of challenges !  wink biggrin

I've got broad shoulders Wombat.......but I'm sure I've got some similar mates here to join me, ha ha wink

My avatar is an old one I used when I was known as "Weevil"....rhymes with.........yes, him, with a Dr in front of it biggrin  Hmmmm......Jonathon and I might be brothers.....I can see the resemblance.....biggrin

Now, with regards the joggers, well tried just about everything including the powder, the shoes and I smell nice now (no more toe jam smells Jonathon) but still got the squeak.  Hmmmm....maybe WD40 next as per the tennis shoe solution on an earlier post.  furious  Rubbish bin solution getting closer wink

I'm from a rural background. Does that mean I'm heading for the f/farm?
The soles are probably polyurethane - not rubber.
It's the tread pattern on the smooth floor which causes the friction which causes the problem squeak.
Change the friction, chance the tread pattern, or put up with the pesky squeak. Of course there's always the bin.
Just make sure you don't buy that tread pattern again.
We have had a lot of fun over this squeak. Pity we can't resolve the problem. It has been fun.

Hi Chris,

The tread has an edge that splays out at the sides, I suspect that may have something to do with it.  I remember Dunlop used to make a jogger called K walkers or something that had a similar tread that was squeaky also.

I'll keep trying things, don't like these things beating me (ok if the wife does though, as long as she uses her leather whip and shackles etc wink biggrin)

Crikey - haven't had time to get on here properly for two days - and this thread is still going - getting lots of laughs from it - don't have a solution - but must tell you about a pair of shoes that got ruined last weekend - they had been worn only twice, nice flat practical shoes, was working the local show in the dining room and kitchen and thought they would be most comfortable - well, by Saturday afternoon, the soles had started to peel away - by the time I got home that night - the outer layer of the sole had completely disintegrated, all round the sides were in shreds - couldn't stop laughing at the sight.

I know I'm a fast mover - but to burn out a pair of shoes on a weekend - I think I need to slow down!!!
