YORKE PENINSULAR HERE WE COME

Leaving Port Campbell in the morning and heading for South Aus.

Will be out of contact for a day or so I would think.

Anybody with any advice re: free camps or cheapies I would be grateful.

If anybody in South Aus is putting the kettle on have pity on a couple of half frozen nomads and leave a hot cuppa on the gate post for us as we go by.

Granite is free but you'll freeze your arse off. It's right on the ocean. Young ones from nearby town tend to party there at night. Also lot's of vehicle access to the beach there. If it were me, I'd drive a bit more and head into salt creek, one of my favourite places ever :)

If you end up looking for a c/p try the one at Port Victoria, gulf viev caravan park. We spent 4 weeks there in April. Site 1 through to 10 are overlooking the beach. A quiet little park with ok toilets etc. Small enclosed camp kitchen, free B B Q.
Young couple own the place and are very friendly. Marion Bay store has great steak sandwiches as well as hand cut chips. A bit slow service but worth it. Have fun

As far as caravan parks go, we had a week at Stansbury C/Park (Family Park but cheaper than some) right on the beach on the east side (not as windy as the west side) Blue will love it, people fish right in front of the caravan park, fish cleaning bench/sink etc. Need to book though not a very big park........

There shouldn't be too much pressure on SA's van parks at the moment. They've all escaped to the north to get away from the cold down here.
Long weekends and school holidays put a bit more pressure on those YP parks, but the rest of the time you shouldn't have a problem.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, much appreciated.

We are actually staying with friends on the Yorke Peninsular but will definitely be looking into some of the freebies and cheapies between here...Naracorte and Yorke P.

Thanks again.

Ma and Blue, you should be here!
The RAAF is playing planes and jets at the moment.
It's one of the features of living in a van park near the Edinburgh Airforce Base.
The "boys" play planes quite often. And I love it!

Granny, Tindal air Base is near Katherine, and they are doing it here too. Must be a special week for them.

They train all the time, but sometimes the jet activity is particularly vigorous and spectacular.
It's good to see them working for out benefit in the long run.
It's also exciting when they're in full action.
