Thanks C G..I'm not interested in working....Just a little different scenery I reckon On the beach or something....Owners would have too very careful on whom one gets looking after a home...the .Owners would be at wits end with worry about their pad....Thats why I though a register somewhere would be good

On here, you click on to house sitting and there is house sitting wanted or house sitting available. Haven't seen anywhere that you register although you do on other sites I have visited.
Just spoke to my mate who house sits full time worldwide.
He says that you don't have to be registered but it helps if you are, it gives you and the home owner more protection and also gives you more of a professional standing.
By registering with a company, it's supposed to give the owner and the sitter some sense of security. If I remember rightly, they charged a security deposit which was redeemable on exiting the registry.
I registered in '04, but didn't get anything in the 3 months I was registered. This mob was set up so that you only paid for power and phone(if needed), and looked after any cats, pool etc.
Someone told me that the sitters are listed alphabetically..ie: if your surname started with an A, you may be chosen for the job quicker than if it started with a J like mine. I don't know if that's still true.
There's usually no charge to do the house sit Pam. I had a couple up north organised last year but they altered the dates at the last minute and I had to pull out. Usually they need you there to feed animals, water garden and security and are happy for you to stay free of charge, you supply your own food. Some have you sleeping in their house, the ones I had organised were, and others provide space for your van so you stay in that. They are all different.
