Just want to share with you all the amazing day I have had today -compliments of the local Scenic Rim Council (SE Qld) - I volunteer at the local visitors centre, and to increase our local knowledge and introduce us to som e of the newer tourism venues in the area, the council are taking two small busloads of volunteers on tours of the area - five different tours on five days, starting today.
Today we started out in beautiful Boonah, travelled to Normanby vineyard in Harrisville, nice wines, plus a talk from the local hot air balloon company. Next to Kalbar, for a history talk and walk of the town, including a visit to the antique shop in an old Melbourne tram.
Up to Mount French for lunch, all provided by council, then a drive up Green Hills Road, with absolutely stunning views of Mounts Maroon, Barney, etc, to a new development - Ketchups Bank Galmping - glamourous camping, almost right under the starts - amazing - the trip back down was spectacular - just on sundown, we stop, break out the champagne and toast the most beautiful skyline imaginable.
Going to be doing this for the next four days - can't wait - O'Reilly's treetop walk and all - just wanted to share my happiness with friends.

Well - day four - early start to Beaudesert Visitors Info Centre, for bus pick up to Tambourine. All aboard for a trip out to Cedar Creek section of NP - beautiful waterfalls, and talk on native fauna by Rhonda from Wildlife Ecology Centre in the Running Creek Valley - she runs the centre catering to school groups etc. The Skyway walk was next - strolling through the treetops gives a whole new look to the rainforest. Then back on board for Tambourine Distillery - tastings of schnapps and vodka - yummy - host Michael is a card. Onto the "stop and go" trolley car, driven by John, for a spectacular view of the distant western ridges of the Scenic Rim. Lunch today - the Polish Place - after a fantastic lunch we went on to the glow worm cave athe Mount Tambourine vineyards - great little spot. Last port of call - the cheese factory and brewery - cheeses to die for, and many different beers to try.
O'Reillys tomorrow - last day - had a great time. Wouldn't have missed it for anything.

There is another skywalk, Marj at the old Thunderbird park at Tamborine, I don't know what it is like, the one at O'reilleys great, especially if you climb to the top of the tree

Hi all - the Skywalk near the Tunderbird Park is pretty good - took about 40 minutes total, has a cantilever platform, same as The Ottway Fly in Vic. Cost about $15 I think. The Glow worms are at the Mount Tambourine Winery - artificial cave and introduced glow worms, but the staff are really knowlegeable, up close and very personal with the little glowers. Walking through the treetops yesterday was fantastic - but today - at O'Reilly's was absolutely freezing - someone said the ambient temp showing in their car was 8 degrees - coldest day since 1916 on the news tonight. Who left Victoria and forgot to shut the door??????? And I didn't climb the tree - hands too cold to hold on!
Beth -love the new avatar.

Thanks Jules. Thought I'd better finally show my face. This was taken last year, my hair's just a bit longer now.
Glad to see you survived today in the cold Jules, it seems to be too cold everywhere at the moment. Great avatar Beth, now we know what you really look like. Not like a camper trailer anymore, haha.
